What sort of contraptions do we need to get pregnant? ;)
Hee hee. But yes, theocratic authoritarians would indeed outlaw contraception. It wasn't all that long ago that the law was in their favor in many states.
Posted by Liveliest Crib at June 9, 2009 02:44 PMI like the "contraption" typo, too. Perfect.
And that Douchehat is a piece of work, isn't he? Couldn't get it up for a "chunky Reese Witherspoon" in college, admits it in print, and has hated women ever since. Feelin's mutual, big guy. Just like Rove turning into a hateful dipshit because some girl beat him up when he was a kid. Fookin' Republicans, overcompensating for their weaknesses by cheering on terrorism and murder.
I'll bet the NYT is so pleased they picked up this douche outta the gutter, they've never gotten so many links since he came along.
Posted by Twinky P* at June 9, 2009 02:56 PMMary, that last sentence is awful. Bertween (heh) the contraptions and, "because sex without allowing for pregnancy is evil.", I expect it to be posted under my byline. I have no doubts about my writing ability, particularly without rigorous editing and revision.
The anti-choicers, if they had their way, would make sex that *always* results in pregnancy the norm.
Posted by idiosynchronic at June 9, 2009 02:59 PMAh, yes. That goes to show what happens when I'm in a hurry and just let the spellchecker pick the first thing in the list... (Gosh, what I would do to have a real live editor. Glad, I have some friendly real-time editors helping me see the errors of my ways. :-) )
Posted by Mary at June 9, 2009 03:23 PMChristian fundamentalists believe that humans have no "authority" to enact laws which conflict with their fundamentalist preachers' interpretation of the "rules" in Divine Scripture. Democracy has no ability to overrule the "laws" of the Bible or some other "natural laws", again identified solely by (their) clerics.
An American Taliban, there's simply no other way to say it......
Posted by euzoius at June 9, 2009 03:28 PMSetting aside the issue of contraception, I am curious: at what point do you Lefties consider that "life" begins?
Seriously, at what point do you thnk that aborting a child -- fetus, if you prefer -- should be considered killing a human being?
Posted by Bagley at June 9, 2009 04:13 PMat what point do you Lefties consider that "life" begins?
Doesn't matter. Well, it may to you, but the real question is: What does your belief system have to do with my body, eh? You can believe what you want, and I can believe what I want, and I'll legally make my own medical decisions, thank you very much. It's a free country, right? Or just more free for some than others?
Posted by Twinky P* at June 9, 2009 05:23 PMWhen it's all about you and your body, sure you can destroy another's body, your own child. Love wouldn't treat another so callously or puff itself up as superior to any other intentional life taker.
Posted by onar at June 9, 2009 06:14 PMless see, "intentional life taker"
oh you must mean the asshole responsible for up to a million dead Iraqi's that loves executing as many people as he can?
Not to mention allowed almost 3000 dead on 9/11 and another 5000 dead American troops...
that who you meant anus onar?
Posted by headxray at June 9, 2009 06:56 PMWhen it's all about you and your body,
I'm glad you understand - it's my own body, and I can do with it as I please and it's none of your goddamn business, is it?
