Comments: Sarah's Blizzard of Words (continued)

How could such a comic dolt be elected governor of any state? Even a solidly red one?

It's highly unlikely based on watching Lady MooseBrain's endless national "performances" that she's a fount of eloquence and coherence when she talks AK policy. Or anything.

Oh well, it's Repubs, so how can one analyze irrationality and mass lunacy? Corn pone Nazism, I guess.

Although Hitler was by all accounts quite an effective speaker, unlike Lady M.....so even the rage-filled authoritarian nationalists of bygone eras were more impressive than today's crop of conservative cretins. Intellectual disgrace stares from every human face....

Do you think his oratory skills were similar to Obama's?

The Liberal "Progressives" and Republican "Compassionate Conservatives" have much in common with 1930's Germany. Everyone is misusing "socialism." It's fascism. Maybe "benevolent fascism" which the liberals were in love with in the 1930's.

The book Liberal Fascism is a must read. The book was written almost two years ago when the writer believed Hillary Clinton would be the next President. The blog is a great discussion of current events, Obama, and Congress.

Schwarzenegger, anyone? Don't underestimate the power of stupid. Just be thankful the nutcases are doubling down. It can only help the dems in the next couple elections.

I think the moron wing of the wingnut party got used to having a moron as prez - teh stupid had a voice (it went oo-oo-oo, but it was a voice nonetheless) in a position of power, and they hope to ride that wave once more. That's why they love Palin. Plus, they think we're scared of her, so, of course, they're gonna ride that winkin' blinkin' pony until she keels over and they find another moron to represent them.

Bwahahaha! Speaking of morons! Lookie, we got ourselfs a Goldberg troll here, folks! The most moronic book ever produced! I guess the embarrassing tome isn't moving in the remainder bins, so good ol' Sarah's taken it upon herself to spam comments. For anyone who hasn't heard of the book, and why should you have heard of it, since it's written by some obscure spawn of a Clinton era hack, here's what Dave Neiwert said about the laughable "book":

Even Goldberg seems poorly equipped to defend this central point: at one point he writes, "even if Nazi nationalism was in some ill-defined or fundamental way right-wing, this only meant that Nazism was right-wing socialism. And right-wing socialists are still socialists." What one is forced to conclude from this is that Goldberg conceives of socialism as both a phenomenon of the right and the left -- which directly contradicts his central claim. He's simply incoherent on this point.

The whole post is a hoot, plus it's got links to other reviews and comments. Frankly, I'd never heard of the guy, or cared, until the funny reviews started coming in. And the dipshit is still defending his idiocy.

jeebus christ, if these moron wingnuts are so interested in Nazism why don't they read some actual historians of the period---Shirer, R. Evans, K. Bracher?

Oh, I guess I know the answer---they're not "really" interested in an accurate understanding of Nazism, they're interested in false "histomercials" from rubes like Goldberg.

Get a clue, you cretins, Nazism was in deadly opposition to left wing socialism. Socialist parties were its principal opponents: workers parties---like the communists---who wanted government ownership of crucial industries and their worker-generated profits.

The Nazis presented the "crony capitalist" alternative, which German business largely supported over ACTUAL socialist parties and movements. Nazi leaders worked hand in glove with large privately-owned corporate interests that supported the Nazis' massive rearmament and national defense "program", which funneled most of the country's GNP into corporate militarism.

This was what Nazi economics was actually about, as you would find out if you spent an hour reading an actual historian on the subject as opposed to a nitwit clown like Goldberg and his tendentious faux-"history", which was created for distribution at right wing internet cesspools for moron wingnuts to gorge on, like "sarah" above.

My what an interesting statement....actually Sarah the word, in your case, is really ignorance...why don't you simply buy a dictionary..or google "facism" for a definition...Wikipedia could help as well.

Many among us on this blog, would not use a Jonah Goldberg book to keep the window up on a hot day, so this crap really isn't a "MUST READ"...

When one has an audience of ne'er do well, uneducated trailor trash, such as the average Republican, it is easy to bandy about terms like socialism, facism etc, when the audience can't spell its own name, however, and unfortunately for the GOP, total incompetence over eight years at the steering wheel, woke the American public up and now there is a motivated electorate that knows Glenn Beck to be a drunk, Bill O'Rielly to be a misogynist and Sean Hannity to be...well...uneducated dumbfuck is too lightweight.

"Benevolent Facism" may portend some clique meaning to you, but when you find a dictionary, look up Oxymoron...and then fill in the blanks.

We actually feel sorry for you Sarah; misguided, ignorant and hate filled as you and your compatriots maybe, we still stop for you in crosswalks and hope your belief in Santa and the good works of Shrub Bush will subside, unfortunately you repugs will remain with noses pressed up against the political glass waiting for your next turn to power...please don't hold your breath waiting.

Obviously, none of you have read the book. The blog is great (see link below).

Here's a review of the book:

Jonah Goldberg makes his case very well. Connections between progressive thought in America and fascism in Europe are shown on several levels, to include (but not limited to) the following: state welfare programs, wars on smoking, radical environmentalism, attacks on the family, and attempts to subvert traditional Christianity. As an alternative to fascism, Goldberg suggest a return to what he terms "classical liberalism" -- the intellectual tradition of individual liberty found in America's founding ideas and in thinkers such as Burke and Adam Smith.

Here's another review:

Indeed, Liberal Fascism reads less like an extended argument than as a catalogue of conservative intellectual clichés, often irrelevant to the supposed point of the book. Here you will read that Rousseau conjured all the evils of the modern world, that the influence of the Frankfurt School is destroying traditional values, that closet Nietzscheans are spreading the disease of moral relativism, and that Deweyan faith in “planners” is corroding our liberties. Intelligent liberals will not cry foul at Liberal Fascism so much as groan. They were not fixed in these formulated phrases before and they will not be so fixed now.

Goldberg does at times display a blush of shame. He qualifies his conclusions to the point of taking them all back, insisting that he does not actually mean to say that liberals are dangerous totalitarians. He grants that some of his points are trivial and others may appear outrageous, so that nothing he says should be taken as both true and interesting at the same time. He claims that movement conservatives also suffer from the totalitarian temptation, so that we are “all” fascists now. Why then link liberalism in particular with fascism? Here Goldberg is surprisingly candid: because, he argues, liberals do it to conservatives all the time.

It's a great review, btw. You can find it at American Conservative.

I just read the book, Sarah. It is eery to see Obama with GM and Chrysler, the banks, and insurance companies. Next is health care and carbon emissions.

It is the era of Liberal Fascism, indeed.

What's eerie is how easily you are duped by bad writing, a lack of historical knowledge, and extremist language, dennis. Goldberg even says his book isn't true, it's just a reactionary screed he made up. Proud of your ignorance, just as Obama said. He sure had you morons pegged, didn't he?

You helped to elect babbling Bobo, and you complain about Sarah Palin?
