Comments: Walter Cronkite Reported To Be Gravely Ill

He is certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

The news hasn't been the same since he retired. The "tone" seemed to change instantly. (Although it turned out there was a long way to go)

7th grade math class, 2 pm, Nov. 22, 1963. For some reason, there was a TV in the classroom and my teacher turned it on to catch the latest. Teachers from the rest of the hall came in and gathered around. The students didn't know what to think. When Cronkite's voice cracked, the teachers sobbed.

Great man who I grew up with watching.
Check out my homage to him and stick around for more great content.

I wonder if the conservotards will shit on Cronkite. They've hated him since the 60's when he and the other establishment media didn't outright demonize and marginalize the the young and radical (though they certainly weren't sympathetic). Since the Democratic convention in'68, Cronkite's own admission that he had lost faith in the Vietnam War, and Watergate, they've hated him.

He is the first newscaster I remember, and was still the role model after his retirement and I was taking journo in High School.

I dread to wonder what he thinks of the news establishment now. How it hasn't killed him to see where its gone puzzles me.
