They did the same thing with the "stimulus", Deacon. Seen any of it yet? Letting this Congress, with this leadersheep, the swamp hasn't been drained at all. We need better Democrats. All those progressives keep messing it up.
Did you read Ezra Klein or Lori Montgomery at Wash Post?
Me thinks you're forgetting about unions. The "public" option would impact them a great deal. How many more concessions can we expect? The "public" option could result in taxing their healthcare too. It's not in their greater good to support that one. They've sacrificed enough... right?
Hey Deacon, have you ever looked at the Swiss version of single payer. Makes plenty of sense and doesn't cost a lot. Take our healthcare in that direction and you'd get lots of support. It doesn't create the largess you might want, but it's effective.
Posted by peter at June 19, 2009 05:46 PMStories like these can't help. Here's the pdf from that story.
Last night on Nightline they did a story about queues or waiting in line. They figured out that the reason more Americans survived the Titanic was because of the English tendencies with queues. They're used to them, they're patient, just don't cut in line.
Posted by peter at June 19, 2009 06:11 PMDid you know "that nearly 5 million Canadians do not have a family doctor." From that pdf above. Isn't that a fifth of Canada's population? And doesn't that jive with our proportion of not covered American's, you know those 48 million uninsured?
Posted by peter at June 19, 2009 06:18 PMDeacon,
What have you personally done to move healthcare ahead? Like may other lost U.S. citizens, you and others sit back on your ass blame others. Due to the "Stockholm Syndrome", the mindless parrots will demonize universal healthcare because big insurance has a powerful brainwashing machine. The parrots suffer from controlled minds. People like you, that see through this scam, sit on your ass and criticize. Look at the people in Iran. We all stood by and let these traitors ruin our country. Now, we are sitting by on the side lines while this traitors kill healthcare. What are you going to do? What are we going to do? It's not up to anybody in Washington. It's about us. You and me.
Posted by smooth at June 19, 2009 09:28 PMSmooth, you wouldn't know this, but I've done more to provide health care to low income people over the last ten years than you or ten of you will ever do in your lifetimes.
I also know more about health care and reform, what works and doesn't work, than you will ever know. I don't expect you to believe this or care, but trust this: when I criticize Obama for doing too little, it is because I KNOW he is doing too little.
Posted by Deacon Blues at June 19, 2009 11:39 PMPardon me Deacon, but isn't there less support for this one than in 1993-94? Many polls seem to be indicating this.
Thanks for all you do or have done.

Idiots on parade.

Ahh but it is true.

You didn't say what you've done over the last three months. You can blame President Obama or anybody else. If you want to identify the reason U.S. citizens have to carry the burden of healthcare cost, the story starts and stops with big insurance, the corporate media and the whores that follow their orders. You know and I know congress (especially republicans and some democrats) is bought. When will the focus shift to what these whores are receiving from insurance companies? Name names! Call them out! If president Obama is receiving money from insurance companies he is fair game too.
