From yesterday's open thread:

Seven, you out there? How's the nicest June ever go for you? To quote the Arizona Republic...

Yes petie, June has been very comfortable... did the same story tell you of the record 19 consecutive days of 100+ degree temps in May?

Yes, global warming and its extremes alive and well in AZ!

Posted by Seven of Six at June 23, 2009 07:42 AM

You know petie if you're so worried about AZ... please write the republi-KKKon leadership in both state houses and repuke Gov. Brewer and tell them to pass a state budget. Instead, the KKKons have wasted 1.1 million of taxpayer dollars in lawsuits between each other.

Fine republi-KKKon leadership... while education spending goes down the drain for our children.

And how about Sheriff Joe buying a 400,000 dollar bus while Maricopa County faces tough economic times. That and the frivolous lawsuits, he and County Prosecutor, Andrew Thomas, bring against County Supervisors.

Yes, Arizona, that last bastion of republi-KKKon hope in the west!

Hey! Asshole republi-KKKon slime balls. You know who I'm talking to!

Answer me a question: Why are small business owners so upset about this health insurance stuff? So much so that we've got these alliances forming to fight for healthcare...and not the one where business makes huge ass profits from denying coverage to sick people...the one you republi-KKKon assclowns --or as I some times call you, repubassli-KKKons-- love so much.

I mean, to me, it seems pretty cool that of 200 small businesses surveyed there was a 4 to 1 preference for public health solutions rather than private market options. So explain to me why this could be? why do 73% want a public option, why are 90% willing to pay more in taxes (and 64% a shitload more in taxes), and 78% saying government should play a strong role in guaranteeing access to health care?

You guys tout the engine of the business owner driving the economy, ad infinitum, etc...so why don't they want private pay health insurance?

Yes petie, June has been very comfortable...

Hey, SoS. Have icebergs interrupted tubers on the Salt yet? Anyone been snatched from Queen Creek by a polar bear? Although I bet it is nice for those in Gilbert to ice skate on their pools. If I have to drive through this summer, should I dress in layers?

Hey, SoS. Have icebergs interrupted tubers on the Salt yet?

In a dispute with the liberal town of Tempe, Jon Kyl has ordered the Salt River dammed. He actually wanted Tempe damned but realized he didn't have that much authority.

Anyone been snatched from Queen Creek by a polar bear?

No, but Cindy McCain promised that John will be wrestling a polar bear in the upcoming Senate election of 2010.

Although I bet it is nice for those in Gilbert to ice skate on their pools.

I wish they would clean them first.

If I have to drive through this summer, should I dress in layers?

Silly Phid, just make sure your dress has layers.

In reality though, I figure that OK is just as bad as Maricopa County, you just don't have the publicity hounds like we do.

Ahhhhh! And this just hit the wires: Health insurers are pissed because they realize a public option means employers will run away from their over-priced, for-profit, healthy-only-allowed insurance.

...I figure that OK is just as bad as Maricopa County,...

Well, we can both celebrate that we ain't in Kansas!

The district I'm in has a strong liberal leaning, but after the last census we were gerrymandered to include the most hard right snake handling area of the state. Bush budget cuts really hurt us quite badly. My sales tax rate is 10%...ouch!

...just make sure your dress has layers.

Again, when we chance across each other I want you to say Kilt. Okay? Kilt. My Kilt should have many layers. You'll have to excuse me, my girdle...uhhh, Kilt-shaper, is riding up.

Mary: Stories like this highlighted by Digby should wake everyone in America up to the ignorance and self-serving assholes of the republican party. There is no logic to keep people from having proper health care. No doubt, many of these republi-pukes have some stock or investment in HMO's or healthcare providers and these investments have done and will continue to outpace the market (not hard to do lately).

Six years ago today, at 7:30 am, I suffered a myocardial infarction (mild...not acute) and was rushed to hospital; within one hour I had an angioplast operation and have never looked back.

Before this incident, my monthly healthcare premium was $58 ($116 for my wife and I), today after suffering this setback, my monthly healthcare premium is $58.

Where I live a package of cigarettes is $9.50 and a quart of whiskey is $35....but my healthcare premium is $58...any questions???

I LIVE IN CANADA where we have so much in common with America except the health of our citizens is more important than the return on investment of our stock portfolios.

You people need to take to the streets to fix this!!

thank you Goyo for helping to illustrate exactly how screwed our health care is here in the States, and I wish you continued good health...
