I think that few would argue that GWB was cut out of the loop of many of the operations conducted by Dick Cheney's parallel (and covert) government. (i.e. Office of Special Plans, Special Forces assassionation teams, etc.) One has to wonder how many operational loops Obama and his team are ignorant of.
Black op and covert operations span presidential terms...how many of these projects are on going? And how many Cheney loyalists are still in positions of authority?

What is the source of your confidence? Do people with the political experience of a Rahm Emanuel really need a year's worth of stinging failure to learn that the Republicans and their corporate owners will obstruct everything?
Let's see a show of hands. Who did not know this years ago?

Posted by phidipides at June 30, 2009 11:16 AMRepublicans aren't the problem; Baucus-ites are. I'll tell you right now, if Democrats don't do health care right, I'll never again vote for another one of those assholes. That's a promise.
It's ancient history, but I don't care: Hillary Clinton wouldn't be twisting in the wind on health care like Obama is. I fail to see the utillity in his acting like Mister Rogers on the biggest domestic issue of our times. Calling Frances Perkins!
Posted by Rick at June 30, 2009 06:36 PM"Getting major energy and environmental legislation passed in the House of Representatives isn’t by itself a landmark accomplishment. Been there, done that. In 1993, Democrats passed an energy tax by a vote of 219-213. And doing it again by a similarly razor-thin 219-212 vote — after more than a decade-and-a-half of intense political lobbying, numerous scientific studies, global media attention, Hollywood hectoring and, of course, Al Gore — doesn’t show a whole lot of tangible political progress for green Democrats."
...
"President Obama surely would love to have a signed bill in his pocket by the time he wings his way to the global climate conference in Copenhagen next December. But rather than passing cap-and-trade, it is more likely that the Senate will have either voted it down by then, or not voted on it at all. (Recall that the 1993 B.T.U. bill never made it to a vote.) By then, that simple carbon tax-payroll tax swap some conservatives (and Gore) keep touting might start looking awfully inviting to Pelosi." Reuters
And now the great Kos has spoken...no more excuses, 60 votes in the Senate, no more excuses. Yeah, "new politics", Germany cutting taxes, Hungary cutting taxes, France cutting taxes, our guy want to raise them, a postage stamp at a time.
