Comments: Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Firmly in Place

Barack Obama is a liar and a homophobe. Strong words? We are living under gay apartheid.

It is time for gays to cool it. They should first consider that having Obama in whitehouse instead of a Reublican right winger like Bush is much better for their cause. Secondly the man has so many critical issues to resolve. Why don't these gays ask people who are losing jobs, homes, etc. how important it is to address gay issues v/s economy issues, v/s war in Iraq, v/s war in Afghanistan, v/s Healthcare escalating costs, v/s energy independance.

The man is in office for merely 6 months. Give him some time. If you waited last 8 years under Bush/Cheney, why would you not give Obama some time?

Resolution of gay issues at this time is not a priority for majority of Americans and the president better do what the majority wants.

And do not mix civil rights with gay issues. They are not on the same level.

We are living under gay apartheid.

Until DADT is repealed I will not give any money to any Democ-RAT or any other Democ-RAT cause for any reason. You wanna keep me and those like me second class when it comes to even a desire to support America by joining the military? Well, FUCK YOU then! If I can't find an Independent on the ballot I'll leave the spot blank. Fuck the Democ-RAT party and those who keep supporting this nonsense.

The military will take any mentally deficient white supremacist racist homophobes they can find, but a faggot can't serve because...well, just because.

And do not mix civil rights with gay issues. They are not on the same level.

Exactly. We're not people. Well, we are....we're just icky people. You are welcome to continue denying us many of the rights you enjoy because we are...well, icky people. And If you're a Democ-RAT, you can make the world smell better by changing your registration to Independent.

Hey look! Obama's on T.V. talking about health care! Let me see...obfuscate...ohhh, another obfuscation...obfuscate... Hmmm...obfuscate...ooooh! Another obfuscation! Electronic medical records are the key...I'll be damned!

That's nice, he hugged the dying lady! He also basically told her she would be treated at an ER. Sorry, bud. She won't be. You are being nice to a dead lady.

Obama: "Still clinging to a broken system that doesn't work..." Hey! I've got a little experience with that kind of thing and you, Mr. Presidnt. You see, what you do is come up with a system that does work! It could be something like DADT for health care! Call it "Plessy v. Faggotson" or something catchy like that. Separate but equal health care. Just make sure there are two of everything, one marked "Straight" the other marked "Queer". Then deny faggots health care because it saves at least 10% on costs...at the least...or if you add in the Democ-RATs and Republi-KKKons in Congress who've had a lobbyist's cock in their mouth, you can save a bunch more!

I've now got lots of experience with Obama and his promises. Let me clue you people in. You are fucked if you think you are getting any kind of real change related to your health care. Believe me. You are fucked.

Hey Phid, we sorta agree there. What they're talking about is not reform, just a counterfeit, more "false consensus bios". The guy is a master og it. And he's soo Kool.

What would be the political costs to Obama if he simply issued an executive order? Why is he such a coward? In this political climate, if the Republicans launched one of their culture war tirades, they would lose voters. I would push them into it.

What's the distinction? How are gay & lesbian rights not civil rights?

And note please, I was not waiting during the Bush/Cheney years, I was suffering. If I was waiting for anything, I was waiting for the Democratic "leadership" to quit being toadies to the right-wing nutjobs. I guess I am still waiting for that.

In fact, Obama's made me bi-curious. Phid, you want to help me out here, since we agree and all...

That's not me!

Id Theft there, the 1:47 comment is not me. Mary confirm please.

If you're that interested, take one of your sons to the next "Purity Ball" your church throws. No reason the little girls alone have to learn from daddy.

Fuck you, Mrs. Martin Luther Grundy King.

was watching this last night on the news. interesting tidbit is dadt is a federal law, an executive order cannot do away with a federal law, per the report. gates has his lawyers going through it to find loopholes, it seems its pretty airtight. plus you have 3 and 4 stars with a petition to keep it in place. a law + top brass, makes it hard to just "order," it away.

give it time. we have a potus more in turn with lgbt issues than any repub out there. i can understand wanting something now, but again, give it time. if after 12-18 mos. you see no change, then turn up the heat, but not only on the potus, but the congress as well.

...it seems its pretty airtight....

Under stop-loss legislation the President can suspend DADT.

US Code section 12305:

"...the President may suspend any provision of law relating to promotion, retirement, or separation applicable to any member of the armed forces who the President determines is essential to the national security of the United States."

Posted by phidipides at July 2, 2009 08:04 PM

No reason they couldn't stop DADT actions with an order, until new legislation is passed (2016?), they've done it already on lots of other matters. Let this be a lesson for you all whatever causes are most dear for you. Political expediency will trump any promises Obama made last year. Watered down stimulus, watered down Waxman and we'll have some shitty half-assed medical & insurance lobby written turd of a health "reform" bill too. Nothing has changed. I doubt it will really.
