Coral reefs provide chemicals for medication, potential cancer fighting compounds.
Too bad no one's come up with a cure for blind stupidity.

Posted by snark at November 6, 2009 06:26 AMlooks like that brilliant military strategist Dick Cheney is at it again. For you history nuts, has there ever been a former president or vice president that has opening criticized the sitting president in the manner (or any manner) that the disgraced Cheney is doing? Is what we have here just a crazy guy? How close is he to treason?

Posted by T2 at November 6, 2009 07:13 AMSeems the US Constitution makes a handy prop for people like Rep. John Boehner. Perhaps someday he'll learn what it actually says.
Posted by snark at November 6, 2009 07:13 AMPoor Bachmann, her coronation as Queen of the Krazy Kult of Bedwetters got bumped by reality. She should be grateful; every dipshit congressperson at that event will be looking at ads juxtaposing their faces with the sick Dachau poster at their next election. The lack of coverage may save her ass in the long run.
Posted by Twinky P* at November 6, 2009 07:18 AMI've seen crowd counts from 5k to 10k for Bachmann's nazi rally- far below what FOX had predicted. It basically drew some nuts, who then broke several laws, and a group of nuts who actually are elected GOP Congressmen who acted shamefully. It was another ugly GOP spectacle which, due to the Ft. Hood shooting, was sent to the exact place in "the news cycle" it should have been - the wastebasket.
Posted by T2 at November 6, 2009 07:50 AMMost of the attendees were bussed in, too, T2. And while the assholes were mewling against government run health care, a heart attack victim and 5 others were rescued by Boner's government run health care.

Posted by Archie at November 6, 2009 08:25 AMFor you history nuts, has there ever been a former president or vice president that has opening criticized the sitting president in the manner (or any manner)
Sure. Softball question!
Jimmy Carter: "Jimmy Carter bears the mantle for most critical ex-White Houser of modern times. From peanut farmer to peanut gallery, Carter has systematically undermined every president since leaving office. "
Bill Clinton: "It's interesting that only Jimmy Carter, the worst president in recent history, and Bill Clinton, a president who did nothing but campaign for eight years, feel emboldened to routinely criticize a sitting president in foreign countries, usually playing to the left-wing socialists who welcome their comments."
Posted by Archie at November 6, 2009 08:31 AMNot to mention the wild eyed AL Gore's constant sniping at GWB for 8 years.
Posted by manapp99 at November 6, 2009 08:41 AMI must admit, the whimpering from these comic-book trolls is sweet sweet music. It means they have nothing to offer but "Waaaah!" Poor babies! It's gotta be hard knowing the country rejects your irrelevant whimpers, except the GOP leadership, which is also good news.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) resists NRSC chairman John Cornyn big-tent strategy on candidate recruitment: "He's trying to find candidates who can win. I'm trying to find people who can help me change the Senate."
Thanks, honey! 2010 will be NY-23 on a national level because winning is less important than screeching like banshees and telling yourself that you're "changing the Senate." Yeah, you're changing it, all right; but not in the way you're hoping. It's DeLightful enough that you guys are screwed, but screwing yourselves over to placate an implacable tiny fringe of nutjobs is hilarious.
Posted by Twinky P* at November 6, 2009 09:26 AMToday's mass shooting is still going on in Orlando office building.
Posted by Twinky P* at November 6, 2009 10:15 AMClearly, if only the people in that office building had been armed with guns they could have protected themselves.
Posted by snark at November 6, 2009 10:29 AMIf only the helpless troops at Fort Hood had been armed with guns!!.....er, um, never mind.
Posted by euzoius at November 6, 2009 02:59 PMLottery now open: What state will host tomorrow's mass shooting?
Let's review: Texas, Florida, ahhh, Texas again?
There are plenty of loaded guns left to "git 'er dun".
Put me down for $50 in the TIKI Next Shootin' Rampage Lottery, all on "some state in the Old Confederacy".
And I'll take one of the old Border States for $10.
Go Southern wingnuts! Yee-haw!! You gots yer RIGHTS!

Oh, dear! Where was this knucklehead on September 11, 2001? Or when the Patriot Act was passed for that matter. Where was this fool in 2000 when the Supreme Court put a stop to the vote counting in the state of Florida and installed the Bush Mob in the White House? The greatest threat to freedom in nineteen years? Have another sip, Mr. Faux Tan Man.

oozo: Is Az an "old border state"?
I'm ready for a tevlon vest, but it's too dangerous around here to walk into a gun store and buy one.
Posted by TIKI AL at November 7, 2009 10:02 AMNah, Tiki, AZ wasn't a state until the 20th century, I think. So I'm not bettin' on your Azers!
I was thinking of KY and MO specifically---McDoof states, still thinkin' crappy 150 years later.
