I've been focused on the 700 million, but I think the Saudi connection is what will finally nail this zealot monkey bastard. I am so mad, so outraged. It makes me sick to think of these morally bankrupt idiots squatting in our White House, and the media just shuts up about it.
See you tommorrow. I'll rant and rave to myself now.
Posted by tings at April 18, 2004 05:55 PMIt's called outrage fatigue.
Posted by Kate at April 18, 2004 06:05 PMKerry should run against Saudi Arabia. Make people think Prince Bandar Bush is running mate.
The Saudis incubated the terrorist culture of Al Qaeda. They manipulate our elections and financial system. The Republicans hit Clinton/Gore for betraying us to China, and China never attacked us.
I don't think Kerry will do this, because liberals are uncomfortable stigmatizing nations in the way conservatives often do. That's an inherent political advantage for conservatives.
The Saudis deserve a stigma.
Posted by Rick (Centrist Coalition) at April 18, 2004 07:03 PMI am beyond words... scared and mortified. How can anyone in this country, no matter who, feel safe. Bush is crazed, a religious zealot on a mission to save the world for God. He thinks he is a soldier for the Messiah , the commander and chief of the end days.
Viet Nam pales to the insanity of Iraq and Bush.
We really need God now!!

Posted by Judith at April 18, 2004 07:58 PMI have just got to stop watching news and reading The Left Coaster. These days my blood pressure is higher daily than it should be. Will someone explain to me why someone, anyone, in the media doesn't scream about this scandalous Administration. What in the hell does it take????
$700 million mis-directed into funding the war on Iraq. Manipulating our ecomony and oil prices with the help of the Saudi's to win Bush a second term. Would catching Bush with his pants down molesting a little girl get the media's attention. I don't think so anymore. I am depressed!
Soething I haven't seen commented on yet is the report by Woodward that Bandar was shown the Top Secret War Plans by Cheney and Tommy Franks. Bandar does not have Top Secret clearance I suspect, so isn't this a rather serious violaion of the law! Conservatives would call this TREASON had Clinton done this.
Posted by JohnR at April 18, 2004 08:37 PMCorrection,
It was Cheney, Rumsfeld and Myers that were told by Bush to reveal the Top Secret plans to Bandar.
I agree absolutely that the Bushes' connections to the Saudi royal family should be investigated and exposed. The Saudis' influence on our Government (and that includes every party and affiliation) is a scandal. It is Saudi Arabia that gave rise to Wahabbism and it is the cowardice and corruption of that regime that spawned the devils that committed the atrocities against us on 11 September 2001. If John Kerry had the strength of character to stand up and vow that he will destroy the Enemy that is Saudi Arabia, I would certainly consider giving him my support.
The question now is why won't he do what he should?
Posted by Toby Petzold at April 18, 2004 09:37 PMNot only did Prince Bandar's wife (probably unknowingly) finance part of the 9/11 plot, but the funds were drawn on Riggs Bank -- where Jonathan Bush (GWB's uncle) is a director. Was he the Saudi Princess' personal banker?
Margie Burns found some explosive information related to the Unger book, House of Saud, House of Bush:
Why Were Saudi Passengers Flown Out of the Country After 9-11?
APRIL 9, 2004--Days after September 11, 2001, with commercial flights grounded throughout the United States, the Bush administration allowed select commercial jets to fly out of the country. Four manifests from these flights have been released by Craig Unger, author of the nonfiction bestseller House of Bush, House of Saud. The passenger lists are posted online. ...
Former Clinton and Bush counterterrorism adviser Richard Clarke was asked about the flights at the April 8 hearing of the 9-11 Commission. Clarke responded that "someone" in the Saudi embassy had requested that some persons be allowed to fly out and that he refused, kicking the request over to the FBI, which permitted them. ...
Two of the flights departed from Las Vegas, where at least five of the September 11 suspects visited several times between May 2001 and August 2001. At least one suspect from each of the four planes hijacked stayed in Las Vegas. Suspected ringleader Mohamed Atta checked in at a Vegas hotel on June 29, checked out on July 1, and returned on August 13. ...
What were the Saudi royals and the others doing in Las Vegas? When did these officials and those connected with them go to Las Vegas, and how long did they stay there? What reason could the hijackers have had for trips to Vegas in the first place, other than to rendezvous with authorities, given that any extra movement increased their chances of getting caught?
Posted by ck at April 18, 2004 10:59 PMYes, an investigation of the Saudi influence on the White House would nicely distract from the Israeli influence, which goes much deeper than the White House.
Posted by piper at April 19, 2004 03:27 AMYes, Outrage Fatigue is definitely at play here...its something new and scary every day with this Admin. But the point that everyone seems to be missing in the now accepted line that Iraq War was a hot topic at the White House from day one is this: Even with lots more time to plan it than they previously admitted, they still made a horrible mess out of it. It is the incompetence of these "leaders" that should be the main point in this. Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rummy, Rice, Tenet quite simpley screwed up at every turn of the road. Now we are at 700 "dead people" and counting and have pretty much thrown the ball to the UN and said good luck.
By the way, there was no, repeat NO story about the Woodward book/revelations in the Austin, TX newpaper today.
i hate bush
