Comments: How Bush is Like Stalin and Mao

Great post! Timely, too:

The Orwellian Olsens by Maureen Dowd:

In Bushworld, our troops go to war and get killed, but you never see the bodies coming home.

In Bushworld, flag-draped remains of the fallen are important to revere and show the nation, but only in political ads hawking the president's leadership against terror.

In Bushworld, we can create an exciting Iraqi democracy as long as it doesn't control its own military, pass any laws or have any power.

In Bushworld, we can win over Falluja by bulldozing it.

Etc. Etc.

To update Conrad:

"He cried in a whisper at some image, at some vision -- he cried out twice, a cry that was no more than a breath:

"'The hypocrisy... the hypcocrisy.'"

It's a very interesting litmus test, seeing how war supporters deal with the reality on the ground. You've got everyone from guys like Tacitus, who expliclty state things have gone badly wrong to those who still steadfastly refuse to admit anything needs changing, which unfortunately includes the current Administration, to a large degree. Point being, this is when one can really tell the honest men from he idealogues...

Also like Mao and Stalin, he doesn't speak good English.

Yes Matt, but he does speak good Texan.

Stalin's maxim also applies: "one death is a crime; a million deaths are a statistic."

Whether counting deaths or scandals, Bush has entered the realm of statistics.

Your average Texas is much more articulate than our boneheaded president. Just because they have accents doesn't mean they can't string together a coherent sentance with out getting all tounge-tied.

Our president is a borderline idiot.

My Apologies Growth Factor, it was a unnecessary low shot.

This is the most ridiculous blog entry I've seen at this site. And believe me, there has been tons of competition for that top spot!

Comparing Bush to Mao and Stalin? Good grief.

Also, regarding Global Warming, you might want to do a bit more research. There are scientists and activists, and it's best to know the difference.

The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States: We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the U.S. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are. And it is important to the rest of the world to make sure that they don’t suffer economically by virtue of our stopping them. —Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund

What we’ve got to do in energy conservation is try to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory of global warming is wrong, to have approached global warming as if it is real means energy conservation, so we will be doing the right thing anyway in terms of economic policy and environmental policy. —Timothy Wirth, former U.S. Senator (D-Colorado)

It is not fantasy, my little jaded liberal friend. It is vision that Bush has and Kerry lacks.

bordeline idiot???????????????

Borderline????? WTF are you talking about? You'd have to raise Dumbya's IQ a good 50 to 60 points to get to idiot, much less bordeline idiot.

OK, Muck. What was the point here? There has been plenty of research by real scientists, not activists, to validate global warming.

And muck, your quotes cry out for context. People here don't buy things like that without knowing who what where when why. We're a cynical bunch, and after all the press manipulations, mendacity, and sheer laziness, not likely to accept a random quote w/o backup.

I think Bush should not be president and I do not trust Cheney and Rumsfeld. I don't know about Kerry, but I think i will vote against bush. These people give me a really bad feeling

True, Mao, Stalin, and George II have something in common besides believing in their stars, mission, etc. They are all conservatives. I am developing this theme in detail here.
