Republicans standing up for the idea that one should have the money one spends? It's been a while.
Posted by Matt Davis at May 21, 2004 10:48 AMThe Republicans are spending money at a pace of greater than one billion per day. That is higher than Reagan and Poppy Bush. It's about time that a "majority" of senators are thinking along the lines of these four Republicans. I do beloeve though that even though this may be a small campaign issue next to some of the blockbuster scandals (Plamegate, Torturegate, Iraqwargate, etc.), this is just another nail in the coffin of the Repugs come November.

Wish all the Moderates--from both sides-- would get together about the massive spending, govt. spending deficits, and massive trade deficits.
Posted by Alex at May 21, 2004 11:23 AMThat's great news, Pessimist. It's about time that (at least some) Republicans actually stood up and insisted on some spending restraint. That used to be their schtick, right?
But too bad for you that I am not a supporter of Bush's tax policies or his deficit spending ---and I've said so more than a few times here. I think his taxation schemes are regressive and benefit the super-wealthy beyond what's right.
I also can't stand Bush's position on gay marriage, stem-cell research, abortion, or Saudi Fucking Arabia.
Anyway, nice of you to single me out. Maybe next time, it will have more of a sting on it.
