Comments: "If it talks like a racist, and it acts like a racist, ..."

"I describe my relationship with the current leadership as basically non-existent because of their rhetoric."
This was said by the Leader of the most powerful nation in the free world, unbelievable! I'm so embarrassed by this man. How do people continue to support this person?

Poor baby got his feelings hurt. I'm am amazed that while reading this, that the Preznit didn't then answer his critics at the NAACP with this classic, "Sticks and stones will break my bones and names will never hurt me, call me this or call me that but call yourself a dirty rat" or the "I'm rubber you're glue whatever you say about me bounces right off and sticks to you", or the ever popular saying among grade schoolers, " I know you are but what am I". Maybe that would have done the job, Georgie.

Grow up Georgie...grow up you whiny, spoiled- rotten, lil crybaby. Take your ball, and go home back to Crawford.

Little Rock Ark, 1958, my mom worked for Daisy Bates, Prez of the NAACP; my mom supported her in those days of integration at LRHS. She and other white ladies of conscious and CLASS helped Mrs. Bates tutor the LR Nine students, and my mom was excoriated by the White Citizens Council because of it, and hounded by the FBI, who in those days, as now were as helplessly stupid in their take on the situation. Hey, as long as Bush mentions God, as my taxman explained, he'll get elected. And if he is, then America gets what it deserves.

What gets me kids, why are you surprised and shocked by Bush's decision?

I'm not at all surprised, BH. Aren't George and Jeb the two most prolific legal executioners of minorities today?

George W. Bush - 152 executions while governor of Texas.

He said he has a nonexistent relationship with the NAACP leadership? Maybe cuz he hasnt addressed them in his presidency, and is the first prez not to do it in 80 years. That means W's mentor Reagan DID address them, even though, lets face it, Reagan wasnt exactly a champion of African American rights.

What did you expect. This is a guy who got upset when the Irish reporter asked afollow up question.

Oh, Pess, I do thank you for your support! My sainted mom is visiting Texas NOW, is due home tomorrow and she has to listen to her Bush lovin' kin till it makes her sick. However, kin in Midland have no use for Jr., since he made an ass of himself in that town, for which said kin, are embittered forever. In the WaPo, the story about Bush dissin' the NAACP convention was on the back page of section one. Without the fourth estate, we're lost!

Mfume says Bush is becoming another Saddam. Hmmm. Can't imagine why our President wouldn't want to go and take shit off of those Jesse Jackson wannabes.

Can you give me one incident where GWB spoke with a group that had different opinions in these here United States?

If he ran on compassionate conservatism, doesn't that apply to everyone, or is he in fact truly scared? I remember you mentioning in a past post that Kerry did not have any AA or ethnic people on his ticket. Yet he is speaking at the convention. GWB has Condi and Powell, yet he decides to cut and run. Guess you can't prove your mettle unless you preach the YOUR choir...

When was the President's last press conference?

There are two major parties in this country (sorry, Ralph) one is virtually all White in membership, while the other features a diverse racial and cultural mixture.
Is this by sheer accident? No it is not. There is a word that describes a person or group of persons who exclude other people from their group based on race, color or creed.

You mean that slow pitch televised softball game of a press conference? Damn he even flubbed up that scripted event.

AT, Here's a quote from MSNBC about the FL voting mess...

Critics argue that George W. Bush, who won Florida by 537 votes, only did so because this list canceled out many Florida voters whose name only approximated that of out-of-state felons. For example, an Illinois felon, say John Michaels, was linked to a legitimate Florida voter, named John, Johnny, Jonathan or Jon R. Michaels, who would be deemed ineligible to vote. After the election, it was determined that about 90 percent of those scratched from the voter rolls were innocent and the overwhelming majority was African American.

When asked about the high proportion of blacks on the purge list, Harris’ office responded: “Well, you know how many black people commit crimes,” Palast said in an interview.

How very American don't you think?

The NAACP story maybe on the backpages of the Post but it is the front and center story of the The NAACP story maybe on the backpages of the Post but it is the front and center story of the Philly papers and local TV news. This convention is being heavily covered in Philly, the city and region feels very connected to the founding of the NAACP. Charles Garland the eccentric 1920's millionaire who gave up his inheritance to fund progressive programs gave the NAACP $100,000 in the 20's to pay for court challenges. Garland had his commune April Farm in Southern Lehigh Co. The Sunday Inquirer was almost totally devoted to the convention, and Kerry should get a lot of coverage in the local media come Thursday.

Anthony, about half of all felons in Florida are black. That's disproportionate to their share of the population. Clearly, the only solution to this problem is for the President to go speak to the NAACP.

Kerry is speaking at his own nominating convention? Stop the presses.
