Comments: When East Meets West In The Muddle - Part 1

Hmm. . . now I'm a little weak on international history and Middle East socioeconomics, but it seems to me that many, if not all, of the Middle Eastern countries have a rather high standard of living because of their nations' revenues from oil. So if relatively honest, reasonably intelligent people took over the helm, could Sudan, Kenya, and other struggling African countries dramatically improve their citizens' living conditions through these largely untapped energy reserves? Methinks it could be done. . . . perhaps with the help and guidance of a non-Bush Administration (a.k.a. a genuinely sincere, not-entirely-driven-by-oil-greed) U.S. government.

This demonstrates how impotent the UN is. My understanding from reading accounts from Sudan.net, these latest atrocities from Arab militia, "throat cutting and raping" have been happening for the last 16 months. Where is the UN, moderate arab nations, the europeans and everyone else so critical of America? I am sure they would love to get us involved, and twist the facts to blame these atrocities by Arabs on America. Sorry, but we are sorta involved in other locations. This is a chance for those critical of us to "put up or shut up".
