What a pack of lying rats.
wait till we get to the GOP convention.
Lee and Jollybull seem to trying to convince themselves by repeating their mantra over and over again.

Just keep shouting the talking points and don't let anyone else speak.
The only way they can prevail is by stiffling open and honest debate.
Demogogary at it's best.
Take note and prepare yourselves for the next three months.
Posted by Michael H. at July 28, 2004 07:10 AMMr. Obamas speech was the most inspiring keynote address I have heard in my lifetime. Whatever political views you have, you must admit he has strong potential to become our first minority president. I hope to live long enough to vote for him.
Posted by Ed in St. Louis at July 28, 2004 07:20 AMI thought the speeches of the second day of the convention were even better than the first - After Obama (who couldn't be surpassed - he was spectacular), my favorite was Ron Reagan - what a smart and articulate dude! A scientist couldn't have described the concept, possiblity, and therapy better.
Posted by Dorothy M. Ligon at July 28, 2004 07:26 AMNow where was I...Oh yeah!
Barack Obama was wonderful. Truly inspiring. Effortless, in the realm of the Big Dog himself.
I thought Dean sort of came off as not really having much to say. It just seemed like he was missing something. The fire wasn't there.
I thought Teresa Heinz Kerry was good. It will be refreshing to have her as the First Lady. Good speech but I do have to agree somewhat with David Brooks' observation that it would have been a good opportunity for her to impart a more personal insight into who John Kerry is than she did. But I think she definitely showed us who she is. Most definitely not the Stepford wife currently in residence.
Didn't catch Daschle or Gep.
Posted by Michael H. at July 28, 2004 07:27 AMI watched "Trading Spouses." Forgot the convention was on. Heard some clips later, and Heinz sounded a little overwhelmed. Lacking the fire of Hillary. Lacking the warmth of Laura. Obama sounded like Jesse Jackson, so been there done that haven't we? I only heard some clips, though.
"Trading Spouses" was pretty good, though!
Posted by muckdog at July 28, 2004 09:30 AMWell, both sides can appreciate this. Have to be patient and wait for the car ad.
I'm looking forward to the new season of SNL, too.

White House set to project record deficit
And supposedly they are announcing it Friday(although that seems uncertain). Great. Give Kerry a little more ammo coming out of the convention. I'm sure fiscal conservatives are doing cartwheels over this.
Posted by Tim at July 28, 2004 12:59 PMWhat I find more than a little disturbing is the huge applause for Dean, whose speech amounted to nothing more than "Vote for Kerry because he isn't Bush" and a marked lack of applause for the Gov. of Arizona's vague layout of the Democratic health plan. Or is Quasi-universal healthcare just not as important as Dean?
Posted by Bob at July 28, 2004 02:36 PMInteresting excerpt:
Bush and Kerry are in a virtual dead heat according to the Iowa Electronic Market -- a winner-take-all futures market with a great track record of picking the victors in November. At midweek, Bush was trading at 50.5 cents and Kerry at 49.9 cents.
Kerry had taken a small lead going into the Democratic National Convention, his first lead of the year in the Iowa market. But Bush pulled ahead by the convention’s half-way point. Looks like the Boston con game -- “We’re not really left liberals who believe in soaking the rich, high taxes, massive government spending, and wartime U.N. appeasement” -- is not working all that well.
Between Michael Moore and Teresa Heinz Kerry -- and not to mention the Woody Allen sperm-suit picture of Kerry leaked by NASA -- the Democrats have a bit of a PR problem. Bill Clinton couldn’t bail them out. Nor could any of the other big Dem guns, like Carter, Gore, and Dean. True, it’s not what you would call a really deep bench. But you’d think the Democrats would get a noticeable lift out of a week in the limelight.
(Excerpted from Larry Kudlow's blog)
Posted by muckdog at July 28, 2004 03:19 PMGovernor Dean once traded at 76 cents on the Iowa Electronic Market (for the Democratic nomination), muck. It's no more accurate a predictor than any poll.
And quote someone with functioning brain cells next time.
Posted by Brian J. at July 28, 2004 03:22 PMWho needs John Kerry? Run his wonderful sposa for President! What a wonderful lady! I friggin' cried when she quoted Lincoln near the end of her speech. I was kind of Bush drunk too, celebrating Dean's appearance.
Teresa outshines every woman there, including Hellonwheelsies Hillary! Teresa is CULTIVATED, has a beautiful, mellifluous voice and makes intelligent points that never occur the general populace. Hillary looked liked she'd just sucked the lemon out of her long neck Corona when the camera panned on her after Teresa concluded her speech. Hill was thinking: I'm toast, we have a new Queen.
And Obama! Jesse's and Al's replacement thank God! More of a gentleman and less of an animal than them two!
Ron was great! Of course, this morning NPR trashed all of it. One old fart called Obama Barak Osama, (you know it was on purpose) and one expert decried Ron's stem cell information as being bogus. Cheney them, I said and turned off the radio. What else can one expect of trash Republican radio? Good news I heard is that recently fired Edwards is getting a satellite radio show. GOOOOOOODDD!!!
I watched O'Malley tonight too. I love all of these new rising Democratic stars! Every generation improves, and these stars are a GREAT IMPROVEMENT over the has beens they'll replace!
Posted by BushHater at July 28, 2004 05:04 PMI thought most of the speechs were well done, but Teresa Heinz Kerry was absolutely wonderful! We should run her for President. Quietly spoken her words, yet thoughtful and direct. It will be nice to have a "real" women in the WH. You know, the kind that actually is intelligent, has her own opinions, is assertive, and most important, tells it like she see it. Any woman that tells someone in the media to "shove it" gets my vote.
