An absolute hoax -- one that ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox and the Associated Press all fell for, apparently. While a couple of them said something about "couldn't independently confirm" (the standard disclaimer), only CNN stayed away from the story from the start.

Mr. Vanderford really is a candidate, one of about 20, and he made the video with a friend "months ago" to see if he could pull one over on the media. Seems it worked quite well.

So count me for horrible AND hoax.

I'd be vigorously applauding if this wasn't way beyond the bounds of decency! This gruesome act of political street 'theater' clearly demonstrates the lack of intelligence (both common meanings) and the sensationalist motivations of those who run our 'news' organizations. For once, they get played for fools.

Agreed on all counts. Some things just aren't funny and this one just plain stinks.
