When you say Sun Tsu to Bush, he thinks you mean Asahi beer.
Posted by phidipides at September 17, 2004 07:17 PMDubya wounldn't believe anything a Chineeese person would say!
Also: "It is the doom of men that they forget."
Posted by Darryl Pearce at September 17, 2004 07:50 PMI think the only 'Art' Bush pays attention to is "The Art of the Deal'. It has smaller words and better pictures, like 'My Pet Goat.'
Posted by Kevin Hayden at September 17, 2004 09:54 PMBush wasn't even good at the art of "the deal." He was only used for his name...even as prezdent.
Posted by phidipides at September 17, 2004 10:08 PMthis is an exceptional post.
Posted by cali_ at September 17, 2004 10:13 PMI second cali_'s assessment. This post uses Sun Tzu to much greater effect than most.
'Course, Sun Tzu is awfully subtle for a plain-spoken fella like Dubya. He's more from the "when in Rome, do as the Vandals do" school of thinking.
Posted by Matt Davis at September 18, 2004 08:37 AMExcellent except that Iraq was never the enemy. It was a side show.
The real enemy is here in the united states. The enemy is loss of power. And the goal is to insure that on the inevitable path of the new order they control the strings.
The bush administration is soaked in blatant hipocrosy. They speak of the enemies of freedom, when it is they who are seeking control by subjugating and controlling the non-powerful using fear and deception as the tools.
Read Sun Tzu with this in mind. They know the enemy and they know the field of battle and they know the goal.
They are also very good at it.
