Comments: Ohio Bush Supporters Make Wonderful Impression On Brits At A Critical Time

Well anything to win.

These notes reveal the minds of many sick U.S. citizens. These notes clearly deomonstrate why Bush and Company can completely trash the country and retain support. Future historians will not understand the twilight zone these people exist in.

Gee I dunno...while many of the responses were juvenile and idiotic, at the same time, I dont think I personally would take too well to another country advising me as an American whom I should vote for.

I think it's a bad idea, and somewhat arrogant, and in the end, counterproductive.

Although I too don't agree with the nature, language, tone, and general ingorance of some of those embarrassing responses, I agree it probably isn't a good idea. The people who are unaware of just how poor our country is viewed by the rest of the world by now, frankly probably don't give a damn anyway. Although the idea is well intended, it appears to be just inflaming dissenting passion on both sides of the pond. Meanwhile I read somewhere (can't seem to find where I read it) that democracy lovin Putin said he is supporting Bush...but I guess it's okay to have those darn foreigners speak to American voters when they are supportive of your candidate.

How can we stop this? The race is too close to call to persuade people to vote FOR Bush because of perceived insults. We should politely indicate to the Guardian, "Thanks, but no thanks."

E-mail the Guardian and (POLITELY) ask them to end this campaign, which apparently started last week. Ohio is far too important to allow for non-U.S. influencers to interfere - no matter how well intentioned.

I wonder ... are Ohio Republicans also writing indignant screeds to Vladimir Putin, demanding that he too butt out of US presidential politics?

I've got to admit, I found the idea pretty poor. The responses from the American recipients are, by and large, utterly embarassing and revolting. However, even I (an Anglophile son of an English father) would be affronted if I was given advice on where my votes should go from someone across the Pond.

I read about this Guardian idea a couple of days ago and while I don't blame Brits for being concerned about Bush getting back into the WH, and while they will be greatly affected by who is elected here in the the US, I think they might be offended if we did something similar. The Guardian meant well, but it's not really such a hot idea.

To smooth, the muslim, its not a country its an empire and the empire owns you. and we in the empire do rule over all other so called nation.

But it is you and your little ideas that, in your words are "sick" the support for one side is off-set by the other, and so on! the world is not what you think it is. and your propaganda also is setup to make your world into a hell on earth.

we can only watch and yes we have been the new Rome for some time now.
