"Still, the venal inventions continue. Our top gun president depends on them."
Wow. That whole thing reads like something from Kos's comments board. "Top gun president"!
Maybe we should keep an eye out for "Bush Lied, People Died." The optimist in me says that the fall from grace of the Bush Administration will be swift and catastrophic and will be complete by Labor Day, but then I've always been a hopeless optimist.
Posted by BriVT at June 4, 2003 09:12 AMBri, how would a fall from grace play out? I don't think Shrubya will ever be impeached even though there are plenty of reasons. But if we don't see a serious tide turning by the end of the summer, and by that I mean public opinion and the press hammering him, then I think all hope for democracy will be lost and our best bet is for Canada to open its doors to more political refugees, all 100plus million of us.
Posted by MrHappy at June 4, 2003 12:00 PMMr Happy,
A fall from grace would be a skepticism that would snowball into a complete loss of credibility. Coverage would move from fawning to questioning to derision. Congress would not move on his issues, and the polls would collapse to his core support.
Even explaining that convinces me that I let my optimism get the better of me. The best we could hope for is a move to the skeptical range by Labor Day with an unexpected collapse of support for Bush during election season when an alternative is presented. I just can't imagine the press as anything but the lap dogs they've been.
Posted by BriVT at June 4, 2003 12:39 PMwow. somebody noticed? maybe -- just maybe -- others will notice, too.
it could happen...

I couldn't believe this was actually in a newpaper written in the states. I thought it was a good idea so I emailed the writer right away and let him know I applauded his efforts in his harsh criticism of the Bush Administration and by his questioning of Bush's inconsistencies that have been sorely lacking in the mainstream media. I let him know that I was linked to the article by this site. Perhaps the more positive feedback this person and paper gets from people all over the country and world, perhaps the more apt they would be to continue these harsh commentaries and articles pointing out the blatant hypocrisies from Bush. It can't hurt. Thanks for the link!
Posted by couldntresist at June 4, 2003 07:15 PMFYI, Not that anyone may be reading or caring about this, but the author of the linked article from this post( Pierre Tristam) did email me back with a nice thank you and some additional thoughts about lack of real investigative reporting going on in this country. He did say foreign media is picking up on this more and that is what he based alot of his comments on and gave me some ideas of what papers to look to. Well anyway, it was nice to hear back from someone who also feels similar and who has more of a bully pulpit than myself..Keep up the pressure. One voice can make a difference!
