I'm going to enjoy this next 4 days immensely. Unlike a lot of people, I am utterly confident that Kerry/Edwards will win decisively on Tuesday. It wasn't the polls that convinced me - it was a common sense conclusion based on anti-Bush energy, anecdotal evidence from many sources, and the huge number of Republican defections. I think we'll know by midnight Eastern time, and I think it will seem obvious in retrospect - a tsunami of votes sweeping Bushco away.

So enjoy the desperation of Republican surrogates trying to spin these bad news stories away. Watch Larry King, Tweety, Andrea Mitchell, and the Sunday news shows tell us that Bush is going to win. Watch the despicable attempts to discourage voters at the polls. Think about Justice Rehnquist. Think about Sandra Day O'Conner, and the rest of the court who didn't dare step down during Bush's term because of the shame of 2000. Think about the soldiers in Iraq and their families; think what Nov. 3 will mean for them. And for us.

America, we're going to have a party on the 3rd. We will have taken our country back.

Wholeheartedly agree with Patriot. Everybody stop boohooing and get your asses out to your local Kerry/Edwards phone bank and fuckin' GOTV!!! And buy champagne! I cussed a guy out yesterday who said he was so disturbed over Teresa Heinz's remark to a reporter: "She actually told him to shove it". I felt better after I left him. Moron!

How about the Gestapo news? Like the IRS blasting the NAACP because Julian Bond dissed the Prez? Threaten to take away their tax status thing! And people are arrested by goons at Bush rallys for wearing T's with USA sentiments like, "Protect our Civil Liberties".

Christ!

Check out the boxes on the KSTP alQaaQa footage. Don't you find it interesting that the Iraqis label their weapons in English? I've traced the code back to a .mil website. The weapons that have gone missing seem to have originated in the U.S.

The data show that a majority of registered Republicans (56%) say the media coverage has been biased in favor of Kerry, while roughly a third of Republicans (36%) say the coverage has not been biased toward either candidate and only 4% say it has been biased in favor of Bush. These results compare with 13% of registered Democrats who say the coverage has been biased in Kerry's favor, 31% of Democrats who say it has been biased in Bush's favor, and 52% who say it has not been biased.

SCLM? Well, most everyone else can see it except you guys. The 52% of Democrats who say it has not been biased will of course say that because they agree with the undertone of the news. (Anti Bush)

After you "take your Country back" why not bring unbiased news back into it also. I'm not sure what is worse. A Republican party that can't take bad press and tells you to shut your mouth or else or a Democratic party that spreads propaganda through the news media to promote their agenda. Seems to me they both SUCK!

NPR has the story of KSTP al QaQaa explosives footage running as the lead in their half-hour news summary this morning - not only that, the summary includes validation quotes from David Kay and other weapons inspectors. ABC News and the New York Times are cited as being present during the interview with the wapons inspectors.

And you are doing what about this? Your steady position of support for the Republican Party can't be helping your complaint about political propaganda disseminated through the media.

I think we can agree that this is a problem that needs to be solved. I no more support Dem propaganda than I do Rep propaganda, but without the Fairness Doctrine [lost under Ronald Reagan, the 'Great' Communicator], there is currently no legal mechanism in place to even challenge a political statement. What do you propose to do about this? [serious question] I'm open for discussion on this, as I think without an honest and functioning media, this country - and by extension the world - is doomed to totalitarianism.

I too feel confident - Zogby told Jon Stewart last night that Kerry will win - I don't think he would have jeopardized his reputation just for some Daily Show applause (which of course he got) - He could have just quoted some of his figures, and played it safe.

aside from bush's frantic excuses in the last few days, giuliani's political suicide yesterday was gravy. still, off to PA!

any brooklynites looking for a venue to celebrate our blessed land's de-chimpening should come to the back room at freddy's bar on election night. we'll have live music and a short film ("apocalypse now" parody) and obsessive poll watching. my doctor's working on a bush pinata, too!

Electoral-vote.com has Bush winning. I doubt we'll see a repeat of 2000; I think one of the two will win fairly decisively. I think it'll be Bush, especially with the economic numbers today. People vote their pocketbooks, and we had another strong GDP out today. All the economic data is coming in strong. Not too hot that it would get Greenspan's panties in a bunch, but clicking along at a nice, sustainable pace.

Bush polls strong in foreign policy, and with the economic numbers coming in strong, undecided folks really don't have a reason to vote for Kerry.

Interesting article in the SF Chronicle this morning. Columnist David Lazarus interviewed Jason Woodside, owner of San Francisco's International Spy shop - a thriving business that companies utilize to spy on employees; husbands on wives; parents on nannies, etc.
Mr. Woodside says the 'bulge' is a receiver - a wireless induction system. He held up a picture of a small, rectangular receiver and traced it on Bush's debate photo, then traced the line from the bulge to the right shoulder explaining that was the antenna. He says the outfit, complete with earpiece is easy to set up, and sells for about $1500. He sells them at his shop.

pessimist,

What do you propose to do about this?

That is the 10 million dollar question! How do you take the bias out of media reporting? The only way I can see it being done is if there is a Republican, a Democrat and an Independent being watch dogs to the major media outlets. The only way that will happen is if Congress does something about it. Which I don't think they will or can.

I think without an honest and functioning media, this country - and by extension the world - is doomed to totalitarianism.

We agree. It doesn't take a genius to realize that FOX has a pro Bush undertone and CNN and the big 3 have a pro Kerry undertone. I was once a big supporter of FOX with the "Fair and Balanced" but with watching Tony Snow, FOX morning show and others their true colors are showing thru. I do however believe O'Reilly is the only middle of the road guy on that outlet. I also think Han. & Colm. have a nice 50/50 balance. Even thou I can't stand either one of those guys.

Right Coaster:

Getting Congress to do something about such a problem is supposed to be our function as voters. See any way of getting the voters off their lame partisan asses and thinking about the welfare of the nation for once?

For example, out here in California we are proposing to go back to open primaries - something even Der Guffernator is in favor of. The plan is that of all available candidates, the top two vote-getters (regardless of party affiliations) enter a run-off. This is intended to weaken party partisan control of the government and open it up to other political factions. At this point, the voters have more control of the political process as was originally intended.

Generally speaking, I'm in favor of this proposal. I can see where the stranglehold of the two major parties can be weakened, if not broken. What say you?

regardless of party affiliations

I like it if you really mean no (D) and (R) next to their names? That would be really nice to vote for a person like that. BUT, once that person starts talking about his campaign promises you will be able to tell who's the D and R. Don't you think?
