Generally, this site is demonstrative of the free propulsion the Left provides for the Right. More of the same here. Fortunate you're not a quadruped, or you'd be shot, mistaken for rabid.

We were cemented in the loony bin when Kerry got the Dem nomination--even if he won, we lost. The November elections only made it worse.

Fortunate you're not a bird, or you'd be an asshole with wings. Now go back to your cult of personality.

Most Americans seem to value hard work and personal responsibility. I think many Democrats have really fallen into an Entitlement Mentality, where they think those who work hard owe them a living. I think that's where the major disconnect is at the voting booth.

Then, the Left comes out against things that really make sense, such as tax cuts during a recession and Social Security choice.

The Democrats are suffering at the polls, because they're party is perceived as a major roadblock to success.

Posted by muckdog at December 24, 2004 09:33 AM

that's some fresh thinking, muck.

Posted by benjoya at December 24, 2004 09:42 AM

agreed. kudos, young man!

Posted by barry goldwater at December 24, 2004 09:44 AM

Muck,
You have to be kidding! We have a President who is the ultimate in entitlement. He think that he is owed because his last name is Bush. Here is a guy who has never done an honest day's work in his entire life. Stop projecting conservative problems onto us. The GOP believes in rewarding wealth not work-look no further than their plans for this country.

There is no SS choice-it is called gutting SS. Why can't you just be honest and tell us the truth?

As far as the polls go, if you believe them, Jr. ,your hero is in negative approval ratings and 70% of Americans don't want him to push his agenda-but I guess you would say that those are great poll numbers. Up=down in the conservative mind.

sometimes people tend to over analyze things when in reality it's quite plain..al gore won in 2000...there is no doubt about that..they stole it because they could...they're criminals and now they are war criminals....geoge bush is the ultimate fraud..he was elected this time because of 9/11..the disgusting people running the show saw to it that it was used for politcal reasons..fact is they did little to stop it and were criminally negligent....they've lied about everything without concern for anybody....anyone noticed how the tale of 100,000 iraqi policeman would be ready for the elections..now it's OOPS...sorry about that...guess we were wrong...never in the history of this once great nation has a man been elected president with so little character..none..it was done with lies..and smoke and mirrors...the country will pay for it dearly..our sons and daughters are paying for it now ..in blood..it's a disgrace and so is anyone who voted for that fraud..shame on you...in time it will be righted...they will come to be known for what they are

Posted by dennis at December 24, 2004 10:44 AM

dennis, that time can't come soon enough for me.

I look forward to your reports, and I have no doubt you will find things to report on!

It's in your wiring, man! Safe and enjoyable travels for you and Mrs. Paradox.

Bush is also the beneficiary of Affirmative Action (multiple times) and massive corporate
welfare (multiple times).

Sorry about that!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!

And may Christ have mercy on your soul, Muck.

Posted by disgusted vet at December 24, 2004 11:24 AM

Well muckdog, if I'm not mistaken, you live in a state that gets $1.57 back for every Federal dollar you put in. When are you freeloaders going to take care of your own selves?

Muck, I do hope you get SS reform. I like to see old farts whining about not being able to afford stuff. I like it that you will take a 33% cut in your SS to have $50.00 per year to put into a stock index fund that makes you 1.5% a year. Lets see...I = PRT...solve the equation for P...crap, I need to get my financial calculator. I think I'm using the wrong formula. This calculator keeps reading YOU'RE SCREWED. There we go. After 30 years your $50. is worth $68. That is unless the Wall Street whores add a few more maintenance fees. Then you might actually owe them money.

thanks for everything... there, here, 2000 and now.

Happy holidays to you and yours.

This Letter to the Editor is better! In response to an opinion from Kinsley on Social Security:

For Lord’s sake, the point was never to invest the money for the sake of improving the stock market. The stock market is doing just fine, thank you – it’s Social Security that needs the help!

The point of partial privatization is to allow people, by choice, to get greater returns by doing the same thing with their Social Security money that so many Americans do with their 401-k's. It seems ridiculous that, when people get such better returns through these investments, workers are still required to invest in a government-run Ponzi scheme.

Whether stocks or bonds are sounder ventures is also a questionable issue. When an outside person lends the government money, that note is called a "bond." But when the government confiscates the money invested in Social Security and then writes itself an I.O.U. -- well, this is a bond of a different color. To treat this like a bond you or I could purchase is disingenuous. It’s like the difference between 1) borrowing money from a bank to buy a car; and 2) taking the money to buy the car from some other account supposedly dedicated to some other purpose, like your child's education, and promising to pay yourself back later. One is an honorable legal transaction; the other, unless you truly have iron discipline, is an invitation to disaster. (And don’t we know the government has iron discipline!)

Modern liberalism is a funny thing. Millions of Americans invest in private retirement accounts, with reliably profitable results. Yet current liberal dogma requires a man as sophisticated as Kinsley to pretend that the stock market is some exotic racket, which any sane person should approach like a terrified spinster considering a date with a sinister gigolo who has asked suspicious questions about her bank balance.

Another name for the stock market: the American economy. Investing in it genuinely creates wealth, rather than passing it back and forth in tricky pyramid schemes, or lending it to the government for pork barrel giveaways. Perhaps Kinsley considers the American economy a bad risk. But then it's hard to see how the country could have any money for Social Security benefits in a few years. At least, liberals should be honest about what they're giving such a vote of no confidence.

Hey! He forgot to end this with, "And they lived happily ever after."

Here is the truth of the matter. If you put your 401K into the S&P Index fund your return for the year is 1.51%. Oh, but Muck. Stocks are up this year. Why did this index under-perform? They didn't. They just charged over 6% in maintenance fees. You see Muck, you've bent over and pulled your cheeks apart with both hands, giving the idiot son of George Bush his favorite target on an American.

Posted by phidipides at December 24, 2004 02:46 PM

They just charged over 6% in maintenance fees.

No wonder you're getting such poor performance on your investments. You should go with a low-cost index fund or exchange-traded fund. I hope you're sitting down, but many are under .2% per year.

Merry Christmas!

Posted by muckdog at December 24, 2004 02:59 PM

You should go with a low-cost index fund or exchange-traded fund.

And this is where the Bushco plan falls on its butt. You must put your money in a specific index fund. The choice of fund you might make is taken from you.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Muck, if your good cheer was aimed in my direction. I wish for you health and proseperity in the New Year.

Thanks Parradox. You are right on the ball. I also believe the 2004 election was stolen by diebold & co I was upset to read that Bush named person of the year, until I read articles and realized that he is in league with all the worst leaders in the 20”s century as the most hated leaders in the world. I do not have to name them because we all know Hitler, Stalin etc. Bush will go down (I hope). Impeach might happen when all those republicans for re-election will jump ships for Iraq fiasco and people like push on like.
It is sad to realize that since all the money spends, ours, for orange alerts have disappeared since the election. I guess Bush does not need it because like he said after monkey sound” I am not here not much longer? “
There is no way Iraq will work. Their history will prove it. The English divided the Ottoman Empire and as usual did not care what the people religions were and named it Iraq. Put 3 who hated each others as one country. They did come together to kick the English out. I see on this site many Rep. that would fight anyone who would come into their town!!!!!!!!!! Guess what, the Iraqi has feeling too and they are doing the same thing. How sad we see one way but not the other. The be-heading of innocent happened as a retaliation of Abu Grahib episode and the destruction of their homes.
This president and company in our government should be held accountable for our young dead and lives destroyed. None of them went to war but were the mastermind to invade a country? It seems that Reagan is remembered as a great leader? I do have to disagree, as it was the high interest and do we remember Texas” Union Credit scandal, then the Ira-Contra……… How great was really the 80”s????????????? Terrible! Reagan was the worst president in a long time.
I saw last night on CNN. A reporter, who just returned, from Time magazine, the title was “EYES WIDE OPEN” Telling us that yes the invasion created more Anti- Americans feelings and more terrorisms. Where he was able to go at the start of the invasion now was impossible if he wanted to stay alive. Iraq is becoming more and more dangerous every day and is becoming more like Vietnam. The US can destroy any other country in the world with there weapons but cannot win when they meddling in others country affairs.
I do agree that California re-election try was a waste of money. And electing the Barbarian was a stupider because he did meet Ken lay and is part of the Rep. Care nothing of the environment.
Thanks the north East has escaped storms devastation. But we are Blue States.
Why do people go for a movie actor? It is because the average Americans care not enough to really know what they vote for. The last person on the TV is what they vote for

Season’s greetings from the East.

Note to "not stupid":
If you think the election was rigged every time your candidate loses, perhaps it is time for a visit to a psychiatrist. As far as the Reagan years, most people must disagree with you, since he won reelection by one of the largest margins ever, and people really reacted with sorrow upon his death decades later.

Posted by Skeptic at December 27, 2004 12:26 PM

Reagan was hated by many, much as GWB is.
