Comments: Majorities of Sunnis and Shias Want Americans To Withdraw After Government Is In Place

Steve,

It's really sad that you, and the rest of the insane left, are actually hoping that the elections are a failure.

YOU'RE PATHETIC!!

Posted by ROOF at January 28, 2005 03:13 PM

I'm wondering what kind of numbers the Shia register about the legitamacy of the insurgents. No doubt the Shia are voting in mass. People are being ordered to vote. This is their time but I'm just wondering exactly WHO and WHAT are they voting for? We'll find out Sunday.

Posted by Daryl at January 28, 2005 04:06 PM

Most Shia are expecting for us to withdraw after the election (that's what they've been told the vote is for). When we don't , things will get very ugly. Sadr is waiting like a patient coyote.

Bush still think he can manuver, lie, and cheat, his way out of this. Hence his pronouncement that the new government won't ask us to leave.

We still haven't hit rock bottom in Iraq. As for the Iraqi's , it seems they'll be fine without us. They're views of governance and democracy are better than ours.

Posted by ben r at January 28, 2005 05:04 PM

Steve, good points. One thing happened this week with the SCLM seemed to just swallow whole. While insisting that of course it's up to the Iraqis, the US is announcing plans for troop commitment to Iraq through 2006. Weird, huh. And then Bush is saying that Iraqi leaders will want the US to stay and help. Oh really?

This reminds me of one of the blown opportunities during the campaign last year. Bush trots out Allawi who makes all of these fawning pro-US statements. Kerry disses Allawi. Bush responds with some comment about Kerry disrespecting the very people he would have to work with. At the time I remember thinking: 'Hold on. Allawi is potentially out just after inaugaration.'

While I hope that Iraq has a fair and succesful election (whatever that means given the disastrous security situation), the Bush administration is certainly leaving themselves open to charges of meddling. For someone who keeps saying how much he wants democracy in Iraq Bush keeps saying things that suggest otherwise.

Roof, you idiot. How is acknowledging the truth translate into hope that the elections are a failure? No sane individual would want them to fail but the only way they will be a success is if a secular government takes shape and is able to hold the country together. The probability of this happening isn't very high.

When Iraq becomes a theocratic puppet state of Iran, exporting terror on a scale we can not imagine, it will be entertaining to see how the fools in the administration try to spin it as a success, which I'm sure you will whole heartedly agree with.

LIBERALS don't now what "TRUTH" means!!

President Bush has now freed two (2) nations from tyranny.

Now, the IDIOTS on this BLOG can try to send and try their FAILED liberal ideology/governance to another free nation. (and watch it fail there too)

Posted by ROOF at January 28, 2005 07:48 PM

Roof, another graduate of Karl Rove's Charm School. What a loser.

Posted by Joe at January 28, 2005 08:24 PM

ROOF, you're a frigging idiot. Really. "FAILED liberal ideology?" Well, I suppose you may be right that it has failed, seeing as Bush has been allowed to steal two democratic elections. But, make no mistake, this country is a traditional -- indeed, THE traditional liberal democracy.

Once America wakes up, and it will happen someday probably sooner than we all think, this "conservative" movement, really a weird mix of fascism and theocracy with a dose of the old Confederacy, will be washed away like so much shit that it is.

Failed ideology? I think not.

There are those who post here that identify with Bush. That should tell you all you need to know.

President Bush has now freed two (2) nations from tyranny.

And being such a patriot, you must be planning to vacation in one of those spots so you can admire your hero's results firsthand?

for anyone who thinks our occupation of iraq has anything to do with free elections (how silly is that)and speading freedom around the world ..might want to do some homework on iraq's switch to the euro for it's oil....in 2000...iran's gradual switching to the euro..as we speak (though it's probably just a coincidence we are laying the ground work for bombing them) and venezuala doing the same ..all members of opec....(we vehemently deny trying to deny trying to oust chavez)do your homework on the euro replacing the dollar as the currency for petrodollars...we are trying to control it all by military force..were losing the battle..the press is suppressing it all...do your homework

Posted by dennis at January 29, 2005 07:09 AM

Part of the story is certainly about countries switching to the euro. If memory serves me well, which in many cases it does not, Iraq was also considering switching to the euro.

Posted by Judith at January 29, 2005 08:46 AM

In fact, Bush will challenge the leadership of any country switching oil denomination from the dollar to the euro. No oil for euro.

judith:

iraq did accept eoro dollars for it's oil beginning in 2000..when we started to plan the invasion...acceptance of the euro for opec oil threatens the u.s dollar..which could trigger disaster..we are trying to contain it by force..we are losing..as the iraq war lingers..it will get worse..they were betting on a quick end to the war...it's not happening...

History is being made. An Arab country for the 1st time in the history of the world is voting for a democracy.
God Bless GW's war on Terror and "Axis of Evil" (DEMS/N.Korea/Etc.)
GW won on Social Security. He forced the debate regardless of the final product. GOP stole the pride(SS) of the DEM party right out from under thier nose. GW may talk funny, but he sure is whippin your ass and turning the country towards the republican party. Absolute brilliance.

Are we going to be talking about petroeuros in a few years? Will the price of gold and other commodities be experssed in euros soon? If this happens what it means is that the dollar is losing its status as the world reserve currency
which means will will have to pay back the debt that we owe to other nations.

Others have expressed it but, the likely long term outcome of Bushonomics is that we are going to end up with European level taxes but due to our debt we will have almost no government services to show for it. The money will just flow abroad at the same time our stock market is seeing the boomers retire (if they can afford to) and take more money out of the market then they are putting in. Privatize Social Security in the face of a likely long term bear market, great idea!

chevy..i'll assume you say such silly things just to aggravate people..because otherwise you really are soft as a grape.

Posted by dennis at January 29, 2005 10:41 AM

Now that's a new spin. "GW won on SS" because he got us talking about it. Brilliant.

Posted by Judith at January 29, 2005 11:26 AM

Going on that premise, Democrats won their fight against Condi because they initiated a debate. Right?

Posted by Judith at January 29, 2005 11:29 AM

Grapes are firm just like my women. You need help Dennis. Grapes are firm, tight until ya squeeze em then juices explode . Cotton balls would be considerd soft, as are dem males aka Mr Limpy.

I pray there is an 80% voter turnout tomorrow, and they tell us to get the Hell out of their Country. I remember 6 monts back, commenters on this site saying for sure, no elections would be held. The Whole World Is Watching.

On a more serious note, watching CSPAN DEMS committee on SS yesturday was a disgrace. It was so bad you could not watch it and I'll explain why.
1st the chaiman spoke and lied while on national TV. The idiot stated that Bush wants to privatize SS. An out and out lie. What Bush actually said was one could choose taking 5% of his SS payments and set up a private acct or one could stay with the system as is. So the chairman is purposely decieving the audiance of what GW actually proposed and that is a lie. The chairman, Sarbanes, and the main guest speaker all talk with a lisp with their tongues darting out sending spit flying. It was ugly. I never saw anything like it in my life. You just couldn't bear watching it. Why don't they take speech therapy? You sound retarted when you pronounce "S" "TH" "Path the Thalt pleathe"
You couldn't help wonder if they take it up the ass talking like that.

I watched Nightline the other night, which was presented in the forum of a Town Hall Meeting.
Here is a response to a comment made by Perle.

Name: Charles Pierce
Hometown: Newton: MA

Did I just hear Richard Perle on Nightline say that the biggest mistake we made in Iraq was not handing the country over to Ahmad Chalabi three years ago? Yes, and the biggest flaw in our national economy is that we haven't turned the Federal Reserve over to Ken Lay. Yes, and the biggest mistake I am likely to make in trying to understand this Festival of Fruitcakes is failing to have laid in enough mushrooms to get me through the State of the Union. To be fair, Perle tap-danced all around the name until Koppel finally brought it up, and then he said "Ahmad Chalabi" the way most people say, "trichinosis."

So, there is an election Sunday.

President George W. Bush said elections in Iraq tomorrow would help pro-democracy reforms flourish and mark a defeat for terrorism (I guess he means in Iraq).

"Tomorrow's vote will be the latest step in Iraq's journey to permanent democracy and freedom," the president said in his weekly radio address. "The world will witness a turning point in history, a milestone in the advance of freedom and a crucial advance in the war on terror."

Well, maybe in your world Bush, but I'll reserve judgement as time passes.
