rush limbaugh is what he is...a very sucessful snake oil saleman with a large following ..and an illegal prescription drug habit..bad back no doubt...he is a clown laughing all the way to the bank..and much like his fellow hypicrite"loofa " bill o'reilly..will buy his way out if it..and if not his rabib followers will listen to him anyway...which say a lot about themselves as it does those two slithering reptiles..who cares
Posted by dennis at February 5, 2005 07:32 AMHe will walk. First of all, you and I know he is on this Administration's payroll. The Republicans are not going to allow him to be prosecuted for anything. Maybe Jeb can intervene and give him immunity. :)
Posted by Judith at February 5, 2005 08:18 AMI'm confident these "celebrated" cases are only the tip of the iceberg. Both O'Reilley and Limbaugh have probably committed numerous felonies in their arrogance and ego. They have every right to believe they're above the law, since it's damned sure no "mainstream" media outfit will touch them with a 2,000 ft. pole. Anyone else can be dismissed as a conspiricist looney and the whole story buried in 2 weeks.
The remarkable unfolding story on dailykos regarding Gannongate might be a model we could use for this kind of case as well. With hundreds of variously talented and dedicated investigators turning their attention to the crimes and follies of right-wing Nazgul, maybe we could uncover enough evidence to take it to court. Anything that helped crack the monolithic media control constructed by the religio-right would be of outstanding value.
Posted by DeminNewJ at February 5, 2005 08:31 AMproblem is they own the top court....one reason we are where we are
Posted by dennis at February 5, 2005 08:41 AMHe'll plead to some sort of lesser offense, and he'll have to pay a fine and do some community service.

what, is he being groomed for the white house?
Posted by benjoya at February 5, 2005 09:16 AMI think he'll walk on this. Maybe he'll OD first and save us all the trouble. I listen to his show to know the other side, and often, very often, he's obviously speed-balling. Opiates and speed, a lovely combination.
Rush-the-Lush is what he is: a poorly educated mouthpiece for fascist causes. He speaks to the more base instincts of the uneducated and the disaffected. Too bad his drug use hasn't taken on the proportions of the Jackson case, but there is celebrity -and then there is CELEBRITY. The only way he can keep in the news is through race-bating.
Posted by phidipides at February 5, 2005 09:24 AMLImbaugh is a symptom. If he gets thrown in jail, Michael Savage or the like will rise up to fill the niche.
He's an important tool of the corporate/media complex, and the inanity he sells... sells. As long as it does, there will be a Limbaugh, albeit by any other name.
Posted by Malacandra at February 5, 2005 09:28 AMEveryone knows whether they admit it or not that a Bush or a Limbaugh will be treated as a "sick person" for a drug charge. A working person will most often be treated as a criminal.
Posted by rlprather at February 5, 2005 11:19 AMrush the lush..i like that has a nice ring to it..and i agree...looking back..euphoric drugs certainly do explain some of his rambling rants...you know...the ones on loan from god...what fun to see him for the hypocrite that he is..doesn't seem to be the least contrite about either...guess being on loan from god does that to ya
Posted by dennis at February 5, 2005 11:35 AMIf Jeb has his eyes on higher office, he might be willing to let Limbaugh hang himself. It would demonstrate "independence" and it would be a clear message to the conservabots that loyalty doesn't mean allowing him to be tainted by association. Jeb may not be interested (now) in the presidency, but there are any number of appointed offices he might want that could lead to something bigger in the future. he also might be interested in the Seante.
I've seen people like him turn on their cronies when it serves their interest. Despite my stronger feeling that Fatboy will walk, I also see the possibility of this alternative scenario coming to pass.
Posted by Rich at February 5, 2005 12:16 PMRich may have a point, they may see Rush as a worn out tool. They can always bring in Michelle Malkin to fill up his space on the airways. The ditto heads would love that fascist wingnut.
Posted by Ron In Portland at February 5, 2005 12:30 PMBecause they effectively control the media, they can startweeding out the embarrassments and increase their control further.
Posted by Rich at February 5, 2005 12:37 PMI also agree with Rich. Rush has outlived his usefulness. Time to cut 'em loose and install a new face.
Posted by Judith at February 5, 2005 04:02 PMGo Eagles.

Posted by dick cheney at February 6, 2005 12:08 PMRush, got to jail.....
Posted by NeoSerf at February 6, 2005 12:18 PMIs Rush really is his first name? It's almost too ironic to be true.
Posted by rlprather at February 6, 2005 08:59 PMRush is a country pumpkin hoosier from Cape Giradeau, Missouri. Red neck country for those who don't know Missouri. He never would have been successful if Daddy hadn't owned a radio station.
