Maybe Trippi will find a good-paying gig as a GOP talking head. Evidently the brilliant-one holds a grudge.
Posted by VA6thDem at February 7, 2005 01:02 PMYou know, Steve, it's too god damn funny that you think John Kerry failed to win an easy election - or you think Bob Shrum failed to win an easy election - but you've got no problem hyping Dean and throwing Trippi a life preserver. If Kerry and Shrum failed to do what you knew to be easily attainable, then Dean and Trippi failed 10x - although personally I think it was Trippi who failed Dean and Dean's supporters.
If you think Bob Shrum is old news politically, I think Joe Trippi isn't just old news, I think he's a predatory cancer on the Democratic Party, and that Howard Dean's first duty as DNC Chair should be ripping Trippi a new asshole. I can't think of anything that would make me feel batter about the party, or about Dean himself.
Unless of course he spit on you.
Posted by Cupcake at February 7, 2005 01:06 PMCupcake, this may come as a surprise to you, but I share your feelings about Trippi. He was good at what he did for the campaign early on, but as a master strategist, it didn't work.
I respect the intellect and the merging of technology with new voters that he brought to the table. but to raise that much money and mismanage it is akin to Bob Shrum having a great deal of money to work with and then sitting on it.
Posted by Steve Soto at February 7, 2005 01:34 PMI sure wish Joe Trippi would STFU. I swear, all these guys--Begala, Carville, Trippi, Shrum--they start thinking they've got all the answers, and they shoot off their mouths in ways that expose really unnecessary fissures in the party machinery.
Posted by Matt Davis at February 7, 2005 02:01 PMWhat happened to all the trolls. Man, hasn't it been nice without them? Maybe they all finally shipped off to I-rack. Hope that doesn't jinx us.
Posted by Joe at February 7, 2005 02:32 PMCupcake, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

Posted by Cupcake at February 7, 2005 03:41 PMIf Dean can steer the party toward net gains in 2006, he'll have every right to run for Prez in '08.
Posted by Rich at February 7, 2005 04:27 PMThe problems with folks like Trippi and Carville is that, despite their great talents (and both men have demonstrated outstanding political talent at times), that it the end it seems to be all about self-promotion. Sure, they have some things they believe in, but too often they seem to be transparently about the advancement of their personal careers.
