Comments: Bill Thomas...Speaking Truth to Power?

A Value-added Tax (VAT). How very European of us.

Posted by muckdog at February 10, 2005 10:15 AM

Let me get this straight:

1. Massive cuts in Social Security for anyone under 55.
2. The so-called private accounts the rest of us get aren't really our money until what is left of the SS trust fund gets paid off.
3. No corporate income tax but continued personal income taxes with multipule rates.
4. A regressive narional sales tax in one form or another.

Sounds like a four step plan to 20 years of Democratic domanance nationwide to me!

Jeez, what kind of Republican is he?

Don't ya just love it! When it comes to the point where they actually have to formulate a plan, reality (and not that new 'reality' they create) steps in and clogs up the whole mess. Interesting to see the massive brain-lock of Bushco infect the entire party, and then watch these people start to consider their political futures. Not the new future created by a new reality, but the real one they actually get to live in.

To the 51%: That's what you buffoons get for voting exclusively along the lines of Terra and Anti-Gay marriage. Next time you select a leader you need to realize there are other interests you have that coincide with what the Democrats are supporting. Enjoy the next 4 years. You created it, chumps!

Hey sports fans:

By JESSE J. HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Senate approved a measure to help shield businesses from major class action lawsuits on Thursday, giving President Bush (news - web sites) the first legislative victory of his second term.

Under the legislation, long sought by big business, large multistate class action lawsuits like the ones that have been brought against tobacco companies could no longer be heard in small state courts. Such courts have handed out multimillion-dollar verdicts.

Instead, the cases would be heard by federal judges, who have not proven as open to those type of lawsuits.

The Senate passed the bill 72-26. The House is expected to take it up next week and send it to President Bush for his signature

Just think 72 Senators approved this!

why don't Rs like the VAT? it's like a national sales tax, no? not regressive enough?

I'm turning Greener and Greener with every new Demublican vote in the Legislature. Luckily, it complements my blue eyes. WTF is up with the 17 so-called Dems voting for this? I give up on them all.

not to ignore jj, donald, and peter; the Screw the Victims/Immunize Our Pimps Law is only the latest proof that many if not most of our guys are castrati. (wow, that's a lot of sex for a political blog)

Maybe with dean at DNC, we'll get a little fight.

These are the reasons for a third party. If I can't trust the people in my own party, then it's time to leave the party.

rlprather (the prick you name yourself after says it all),
Reading most of the threads on this site....EVER... without blowing my own trumpet too much , I dare say my posts are the among the only ones that dare too express opposing views, which are instantly met with piles of cynicism and insults, showing how consistantly boring most of the regulars are (to want to keep every thread on a nice challenge-less note).
