My God. Ain't Condi the best little "Yes" girl you ever saw?
It's good to know that Rummies human rights abuses at Abu Ghraib are less problematic than the general Iraqi human rights abuses. It also gives a new insight into why we keep getting the human bombs from the "insurgents"...the Iraqis are also being real fucks to their own people. So we're fucks to the Iraqis, the Iraqis are fucks to the Iraqis, and this implies to me that Iraqis, in general, are fucked.
Posted by phidipides at March 1, 2005 09:26 AMYes, I heard this "Report on Human Rights" on the news last night. The "anchor" read all the countries listed as abusers....I kept waiting for the Abu Ghraib mention.....uh, not mentioned. As if Iraq wasn't even on earth. I thought about how the "anchor" must have felt reading some crap he knew to be propaganda. I guess he felt like he wanted to keep his job. Media Control is all that keeps BushCo afloat.

The ACLU and Human Rights First have filed a lawsuit against Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, in a Northern Illinois U.S. District Court today. They charge that “Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld bears direct responsibility for the torture and abuse of detainees in U.S. military custody.” Former government and military officials have joined the lawsuit as co-counsel.
Lead counsel in the lawsuit, Lucas Guttentag says Rumsfeld, “gives lip service to being responsible but has not been held accountable for his actions.” The groups have charged Rumsfeld with violations of the United States Constitution and international laws “prohibiting torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment.”
They also charge that “charges that brutal and illegal interrogation techniques were personally approved by Secretary Rumsfeld in December 2002” and that although some techniques approved in 2002 were later rescinded, “Rumsfeld personally approved a new list in April 2003.”

Posted by Pamela at March 1, 2005 10:13 AMThis administration is preposterous. Seymor Hersh could easily respond with fact and resources to place the U.S. high upon the list. His book the Chain of Command is a must read. It saddens me that this administration has pulled its citizens into the muck of torture. Its ironic that the FBI and some military leaders (probably the majority) would agree with this contention

Posted by jong at March 1, 2005 11:26 AMI just saw on C-span; State Dept briefing on 2004 Human Rights practices report. It looks like the majority of our great US media was absent. Guess as it was not great new for king george there was no reason to be there.
here Good questions by foreign media.
Have I mentioned today how much I hate these people.
Posted by roamer at March 1, 2005 01:40 PMSee, it's only torture when those dastardly swarthy foreigners do it, not when a righteous Christian nation like the US does it.
Same goes for anything else we do but vociferously condemn when anyone else that's not a long-time coddled ally does.
Pretty sweet deal, overall.

I officially despise Justice Kennedy.
But, really, I'm just glad that Texas is more "in line" with the rest of the civilized world.
Bastards.

What way for that Texan to really prove his point tonight.
Posted by at March 1, 2005 05:28 PMyes, justice kennedy is to be despised, a sorry result of the pathetic presidency of bush the elder. in fact, anyone who didn't spring whole from the head of son of bush is impure. the first bush? a wimp, a tax-raiser, a secularist. reagan? a hollywood phony, a divorcee, for the love of god. nixon? more liberal than ted kennedy, an environmental extremist! eisenhower? soft on defense! had paranoid notions of a "military-industrial complex"
it's a cult, pure and simple. suckers all around.
Posted by benjoya at March 1, 2005 05:33 PMi mean, if our brave men and women are fighting for anything, it's for the right to execute children. it's what makes us (and somalia) special.
