I didn't know how to take the Reid-Kerry face off since one of the things Kerry seemed concerned about was abandoning the middle ground to Bush. That, and Reid insisting that he already had a war room set up made me think that Kerry was all about triangulation. Kos, I think, shares my take.
Posted by LowLife at March 9, 2005 12:18 PMUh, I know some folks don't want to hear this, but let's not count Gore out just yet. Hell, we haven't even had midterms yet. Plus, do you believe any freakin' thing Tweety says?

Posted by chris65203 at March 9, 2005 02:12 PMSteve could write a column like this five times a day and have different outrages in each. GOP control can be stopped on election day 2006, just as it could have been stopped this past Nov.2, or the 2002 elections, or the 2000 elections. The fact that questionable elections have kept these hooligans in power long enough to cause this breakdown is solely due to their control of the Media. The fact that multitudes of crimes can go uninvestigated or underreported is solely due to their control of the Media. As Dan Rather slinked into darkness, the Rovian shadow of the White House cast a pall over truth and journalism. Can that be resurrected? What force will that take? Are we able to even hold a fair election anymore? Without the Media complicity in the last two swindles, we would have had at least one Dem president of the two. As long as that Media grip remains, so will they, as they have shown a focus on power consolidation as their first and formost goal, public be damned. And we will be damned, and maybe we should be damned.
Posted by T2 at March 9, 2005 02:58 PMWell, T2, either that or the Democrats are running a plank that the majority of folks disagree with.

Hell, half of Americans are below average intelligence--and our average isn't even that good.
Posted by Matt Davis at March 9, 2005 03:51 PMSo Muck, what is so damn compelling about the Neocon plank? How has your life been improved since 2000?
Posted by Trieatalot at March 9, 2005 04:29 PMHere's how private accounts would work and be funded. Good idea.
Matt: So, those who make under $30K are the smartest? That's who tends to vote democrat. Bush won the $50K and over crowd ($50-75K by 13%). 55% of the population makes over $50K, btw.
Trieatalot: Taxes were cut. Property values have gone up. Bonds and REITs have had a great run. GDP is near 4%, and the nation is at full employment. Wages continue to rise. Average American's wealth continues to increase. We had one of the mildest recessions in history in 2001.
Posted by muckdog at March 9, 2005 04:41 PMI guess we shouldn’t worry about things like roads, bridges, schools, our airports and our water and air if things are going so well in the economy? Steve Soto
I assume that the companies which are working on those very same problems in Iraq are taking care of the domestic work as well.
Well, T2, either that or the Democrats are running a plank that the majority of folks disagree with. Posted by muckdog
Yup, that's why Republicans have to use Diebold and voter suppression to steal elections.
I guess we shouldn’t worry about things like roads, bridges, schools, our airports and our water and air if things are going so well in the economy, right?
It's that new economy. No taxes, and the public goods and infrastructure will grow like hemorrhoids on Cheney's anus. It's magic.
Average American's wealth continues to increase.
That's because the wealthy had an ungodly increase in wealth. The rest of us lost real purchasing power. The rest of your blather is as bogus as ever.
We had one of the mildest recessions in history in 2001.
And it's still mildly here.
Posted by phidipides at March 9, 2005 10:15 PMPhidipides- I suppose you prefer Europe, with its high unemployment and low growth? (Not to mention high taxes.) They also have a demographics problem (aging population, low birth rate) that makes our Social Security and Medicare funding problems look relatively simple to handle.
Posted by Stats at March 10, 2005 05:16 AMA late response to Mucktroll....a majority of americans agreed with Dems in 2000. Only a majority of the Supreme Court agreed with Bush. And now, please find me a poll that shows a majority of Americans agreeing with Bush....whoops...a solid majority think the country is headed in the wrong direction after 4 + years of Bush...No Muck, it is you and your party that is the minority, propped up by Media Control.
Posted by T2 at March 10, 2005 06:22 AMKeep believing, T2.
