Comments: Better never then late?

Semi OT: I was happy to hear on NPR this morning a little story about what life was like BEFORE Social Security, that people basically worked til they died, and went to live with their children.

I meant of course I was happy they reported that, certainly not that people had no safety net.

Duckman, you rule! Thank you for your wonderful post. I've just perused web sites that rail on about the Terri coverage; and that AA singer, the weirdo, and I just thank God, I don't turn on my TV. I'm appalled just reading about the COVERAGE!

Bankruptcy, etc,. Sharon I listened to the same story on NPR this morning. Yeah, folks worked until they dropped way back when. And poisoned air didn't help longevity either. Amazing how many liberal ideas have made the USA, well, the old USA, the best place to live.

Permission should be granted to use the "questions" as the basis for letters to the editor in every city and town. They are the way to snap these people into consciousness.

Since the passage of the Bankruptcy Bill, I have wondered if small entrepreneurs will hesitate to create new businesses knowing that they may not be able to get out from under the debt incurred.

The wingnuts have taken up two new chants since they have control of the WH and Congress: 1) Judges should not "create policy" and 2) they should respect the "requests" of the other two branches of Gov't. "Activist" judges (bad) create law by interpreting legislation, "obedient" judges (good) "correctly" divine the intent of the Exec. and/or Leg. branches; no matter how screwed up or unconstitutional the passed legislation may be.

As a lawyer, I can tell you that the judges I have been in front of are not wild eyed liberals. Most, in fact, are probably republicans and definitely conservative. (Unless they are looking for a pay raise!)

All a plot to make us turn to religion?

the meme this month is evil corrupt judges. Cause next month the judiciary fight begins and they have to fire the public against the judiciary.
See Government is bad except when they are the government, and the judiciary is bad except when they appoint all the judges.

All manipulation, all the time.

That's the bushco way. I think karl misunderstood Mr. Orwell, and took him literally some time back in his unwanted as a child days.

The NPR report on America pre-Social Security confirmed a lot of what I thought about 'the roaring 20's.' Excellent coverage of what used to be called the county poorhouse-we really don't want to go back to those days.
