So the media's not liberal then?....
Oh right, now I understand why everything perceived as right-wing is undermined or critisized with one form of sneering insight or another. Now I understand why nearly every US news publication slags off the republicans and their policies in their editorials , it's because they're really conservative-leaning (but are pretending not to be).
You guys are friggin' insane if you're really being serious about this. The media couldn't be more liberal if Hollywood superstars presented every show, and hollywood producers, produced them
Posted by Ricardo at March 31, 2005 03:29 AMNo, Ricardo, these guys are perfectly sane.
Your post, in fact, affirms their argument. In it, you have used inflammatory language "one form of sneering insight or another", implied statistics with no basis in fact "why nearly every US news publication slags off the republicans and their policies in their editorials", and out and out stereotyped name-calling "Hollywood superstars" to further the myth of liberal bias in the "media."

The best way to prove media bias is to list the party affiliations and contributions of the corporate people at the top. If you did this, it would probably show Republicans overwhelmingly in control.
Posted by nohelp at March 31, 2005 07:30 AMRicardo! Long time no see. I see you're still swimming in the K-aid.
eriposte, I'm really looking forward to your suggestions. As other posters have mentioned, this series needs to become a text. You would get a lot of traction in the academic markets.
The neo-cons seem to be getting their message out primarily through AM radio in local markets. When you look at Nielsen numbers for cable news the viewership is very limited compared to the networks, although their lies always suggest they are beating the networks. We've always had a largely republi-con press, especially in the midwest and south.
I had a lovely chat with a young neo-con yesterday. He told me he was very pleased that liberals were coming around, essentially getting in-line with the idea that the idiot son of George Bush had brought democracy to Iraq...or so his neo-con media tells him. He was not so sure of his new-found idea when I finally dismissed him from my presence after correcting his mistaken beliefs.
Posted by phidipides at March 31, 2005 07:50 AMRicardo, Apply the Clinton test. If Clinton was President and did everything Bush did. Every scandal would be FRONT PAGE day after day after day.
Posted by Goose1 at March 31, 2005 07:56 AMIf you are a democrat and disagree with the undertone of a news story then the reporting may be biased to the right.
If you are a republican and disagree with the undertone ....etc.
If you have no feelings either way after a news story then the reporting must be fair and impartial.
Myself being a moderate with a slight lean to the right feel that most media is biased to the left.
You on the left don't see it because you AGREE WITH THE REPORTING!!!
If you think Bill Clinton was unfairly picked on or you think George W. Bush is a smart man then your a lost cause to society. Your so blinded by partisan politics that you would rather burn down the White House than have the other guy sitting in the Oval Office.
All media is biased one way or another. See it for what it is an move on.
Posted by Simple Test at March 31, 2005 11:35 AMSimple, If there was a Gay Male Protestute involve in the press core and repressenting a left wing organization under clinton I GAURANTEE that would be front page news. But I do aggree sometimes It depends on the person who is viewing the story.
Posted by Goose1 at March 31, 2005 12:35 PMThe “media bias†discussion is a diversion. Conservative and liberal concepts and augments are also major diversions. These diversions cause mental paralyzes and prevent critical thinking. Clear thinking people would not accept what the media is presenting to them.
Critical thinkers would want to know:
1. What are the financial returns to the public for spending $200 billion in Iraq and how long will the treasury bleed this way.
2. Why are we talking about Social Security Privatization instead of spiraling Healthcare cost, the huge budget deficit, the huge trade deficit, double digit secondary education cost increases, future energy supplies that won't destroy our way of life, long work hours and flat worker compensation, etc. How can we effectively compete in a global economy with these barriers?
3. Since there is concern about Social Security viability, why do the media fail to inform the public that continuing to use billions of Social Security taxes to fund huge deficits make the Social Security problem worst.
4. Why won't the media highlight the choice between allowing people that paid into Social Security to receive benefits at current levels and defaulting on the Social Security Taxes borrowed to fund deficit spending? Understanding that stealing funds from Social Security contributors to fund tax cuts for the rich and corporate welfare is a ripping off is not liberal or conservative. It’s flat out immoral and wrong.
Debunking the “liberal media myth†does nothing to expose the real crime. The U.S. public is undergoing the biggest scam since the early 1900’s. While we confront each others liberal and conservative views the middle class and the republic is going down the tubes.

Why Cosrai you're right....
Without knowing a thing about me you've managed to Freud-ulate my words, and by some unfathomable calculations in your own mixed up head, have come up with the conclusion that I alone proove that the media is right-wing.
BTW I'm not right-wing myself, I'm not so shallow to label myself with one wing or another. I study facts and base my opinions on them.
Phillipidididipides or whatever..... Thanks--- I think....
