Comments: Selling out America

I just know that the God I pray to isn't the same one those assholes are constantly on about. I keep wondering why they haven't been felled by lightning, but then again God is merciful, though I still don't understand it.

Lugar (and Indiana) might get some help from DOD in regards to base closings for his continued loyalty.

If ever there was a reason for moderate republicans to switch parties, this is it.

Posted by Barbara at April 19, 2005 05:47 AM

Very often overlooked in the ramifications of Bush vs. Gore was the reflexive, overhelming need to legitimize the Republican party once they had stolen the election.

Horribly enough, the decision let Bush & Cheney empirically know they were completely above the law, yes, but the furtive, angry souls in the GOP always knew they had stolen it and trashed the Democracy in just three weeks.

It became this overwhleming, total compulsion to balls-to-the-wall defend anything to do with Bush and the GOP--yeah we stole it and everything we stand for is a lie, but we're going to show you it was the right thing to do anyway.

We are not thieves. We are not traitors to Democracy. We are the very best patriots this country has ever seen to keep the blowjob party from keeping power and we'll show everybody.

We'll win every time. We'll only get good stories in the press. We're great Americans because we say we are, and now we have to triply prove it every day becuase we just showed everybody what crooks we are.

"Defensiveness" is a term to describe this that always seemed very inadequate to me. Defensive, yes, but defensive to a degree most of us can never imagine, because we've never had to look at that huge black evil mark of behavior and know we'd thrown away a legacy of 225 years of counting votes and Democracy--and then had to convince everyone what pure and good Americans we still were.

Lugar, Hagel and Chafee to a great degree play along simply to prop up the illusion of legitimacy. Nobody in the Bush mafia had to twist their arms for that.

No-one on the left is in a position to talk about the Republicans selling out their country.

You lefties are the most treacherous bunch in leftist history.
You sound like you're ashamed to be american, and seem to think that america should never defend itself, and the only wars you should get involved in are ones that you have nothing to gain from (IE- Serbia).

The Democratic Party should be as organized as Move On. Please forward to as many people as possible.

In the next 10 days the Republican leadership is planning to pull the trigger on their scheme to break the rules of the Senate, seize absolute power over judicial appointments, and stack the courts with extreme judges. Overnight, some of our most treasured rights, like the 40-hour work week, basic environmental protections, and the right to privacy, would be in danger. We must act.

Cut and paste the following and send a letter to one of the choices:

Sorry, this is the correct address for Move On.

For some reason I can't cut and paste the complete address. Just go to Moveon.org for the information.

As someone so vocally critical of the way Islam represses the rights of the individual it is beyond my comprehension how you could be so ignorant of what it is that makes Americans American. You’re a foreigner so I suppose you have an excuse. Are you really so stupid or just so completely blinded by your hatred of Islam and of your father that your views are so impenetrably warped? Treacherous leftists? My God. Coulter really has you hooked up. Your simplistic analysis fits perfectly with her worldview. What a fucking turd you are.

Previous post directed at Ricardo.

Sorry. It's been a while. Forgot to proof read.

Posted by muckcat at April 19, 2005 07:21 AM

Ricardo,
you should read some American history. You know nothing of this country and you sound like you believe in nothing that this country trully stands for.

Posted by jj at April 19, 2005 08:40 AM

Ricardo, to follow up - I suggest you start with the Bill or Rights and the entire constitution. I'm serious, you and in fact all Americans need to read these documents.

Posted by jj at April 19, 2005 08:46 AM

Both parties are sell outs. Neither one cares for what the average Joe/Joan wants. Practice whatever religion you want, but practice it at home or in your church and not in our Governemnt.

"If ever there was a reason for moderate republicans to switch parties, this is it."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm sure there are a lot of moderate Republicans who want to join the Democratic Party as conservative Democrats, just so Steve Soto and every other left-wing evangelical can rip them a new asshole every time they don't vote like the true progressives that every American should be.

God, that's too damn funny.

The new pope writes on lefty blogs, has a sense of humor, and swears like a sailor....Cool!

Posted by Sharon at April 19, 2005 10:23 AM

Who wants to bet that the Dems will roll over yet one more time for W? Shit, they'd approve the fucking devil himself if W nominated him.

Posted by Vinnie at April 19, 2005 11:10 AM

Oh, and Ricardo, we all should be ashamed to be American as long as these insane fucking lunatics are driving the country right off the damned cliff.

Posted by Vinnie at April 19, 2005 11:14 AM

Winning the Bolton vote isn't anything more than a token victory, not to say that isn't important however. Whoever Bush puts up after Bolton if he doesn't pass will promote the same agenda, but won't have the checkered past. The token victory however if played correctly could open a rift in the straining republican party.

Posted by charles at April 19, 2005 01:09 PM

This just in: the Bolton vote has been postponed for a week. And it was the fine senator from -- wait -- Ohio? -- who tipped the balance. Dare I hope?

No, not yet. Also just heard that Delay thinks Justice Kennedy shouldn't be researcing on the Internet. All he needs to make decisions, according to DeLay, is the constitution. But because he looks on the Internet, he's an activist. What?

Posted by michelle at April 19, 2005 04:40 PM

Muck Cat,
Nothing to do with Coulter just a simple observation:
Liberals always side with the enemy, critisize their own government and armed forces, while praising their opponenets, claim to be all for equality (and then demand more rights for minorities), and act like they're disgusted at america's actions abroad, yet are indifferent to acts of out-of-control babarity from eneducated islamic reptiles.

You're the turd, you and your fucking hypocritical ilk....
