Comments: [Fill in the blanks] Media

There must be a reason. Why isn't the British story on Bush's rigging the prewar intelligence on every front page? Some due corporate influence? No doubt. Undue Israeli influence? No doubt. And, there's this socialization problem. Cokie, Schieffer, Gwen,et al have too much invested in their social contacts. Thus it is that the Knight Ridders do the real news. I think journalism implies and probably requires an adversarial relationship. Once they crossed over into marketing the news, they needed to keep their sources happy. Now, they are little more than PR for the administration. Hell, they are probably taking them to lunch.

After years of being bullied by the Radical Right I sse the media suffering from what I call "Battered Reporter Syndrome". That is why the media has embraced "he said/she said journalism". Reporting honestly about the Democrats and Republicans tends to hurt the latter in more cases and it's just easier to focus on the superficial and sensational, except, of course, when the sensational might hurt the Republicans (Jimmy/Jeff), then they suddenly get high minded. Break up the Media monopolies by bringing back anti-trust lawsuits and re-institute the "Fairness Doctrine".

I propose the term "Mostly Salacious Media" to describe the establishment media.

I think "corporate-owned media" captures the intended spirit. In addition it is accurate and not too pejorative.

There was a time when newspapers were individually owned by their publishers or editors. The only paper with significant family control is the NY Times.

The idea is to associate the idea of big business with the news outlet. People have a fairly good idea of the priorities of big business so the association should be good enough.

When talking about the non "MSM" one could use the term "independent media".

Just watched "Orwell Rolls in his Grave"

Call it Corporate Owned News, or C.O.N. Media

When the dam breaks and the misery of the voters plus the changes in demographics favoring the Democrats sweep clean the corridors of the beltway, one of the first reforms enacted needs to be the re-adaptation of the fairness doctrine.

Corporate shills

The only answer is, do not watch them. If the numbers goes down they will change their tune.
Get your news where there is no corporate control.
Beat the Press
Make a difference.

I thinlk "Corporate Controlled Media" is more factual.

"Corporate media" is best -- it gets the point across the media serves corporate interests, while not editorializing with "lazy", "insidious", etc.

Just call it Pravda News (PN)

"Corporate media"

Nice and simple. Anybody can understand it - easy to remember. Also helps in the future as we will need to reign them in.
