Comments: Karzai Now Says Newsweek Wasn't The Cause Of The Riots - And Neal Figures Out The Rove Media Playbook

It's just like every single frickin thing these guys say, a week later, nope, never mind, never happened.

And in the meantime yet another news organ has severed itself from the body in a desperate attempt to ingratiate themselves with the immoral and venal swarm of bushco.

But, of course, bushco's purposes were fulfilled thanksto the utter lack of integrity and self confidence of fools like Newseek and that stupid em effer isikoff.

A hearty well done all around boyz!!

Posted by Duckman GR at May 23, 2005 11:21 AM

I'm tellin ya, I can't wait for the end times, the looks on all these fools faces when they get shown to the down escalator will be well worth the price of life on earth.

Posted by Duckman GR at May 23, 2005 11:24 AM

BUT Neal does not mention the "Downing street memo" that proves that bush and his scum buddies lied. They "fixed the intelligence around the policy". Why doesn't Neal mention the memo? He's scared of these war criminals just like the rest of the media. Someone needs to make this memo big news and call for impeachment. Its the "smoking gun" that proves low life bush's war crimes.

Posted by jj at May 23, 2005 12:03 PM

But it also seems true that questions about a war that was fought on an acknowledged false premise are at least as important as questions about one president's efforts to lie about a consensual affair with another adult.

This was mostly a good piece, but this last sentence stinks. Does he really think lying about a blowjob is the same as premeditately taking the country to war and thus is equally reprehensible?

And the one thing he forgot to ask the Bush administration to apologize for was taking the country to war without any real plan for the aftermath. Not only does Boy Caesar take the country to war on a whim, but he f*cks it up righteously and there are thousands and thousands of people who died over his f*ckup. Yeah, he does owe Americans and the world an apology.

Boy King and his neocon PNAC Straussian handlers deliberately and intentionally LIED to the Merkan public. Premeditated Lying. Premeditated lying that led to the deaths and maiming of thousands. Should be some sort of crime shouldn't it?

Remember the rallying cry of rethugs, it's the lying.

And let's not forget, Scottie also said Newsweak needed to do more than just apologize, they needed to repair the damage they did to the American image.

So we should demand Junior and Co do more than just apologize, they need to repair the damage and harm they caused. I know just how they could do that...RESIGN in Shame and turn themselves over to the WAr crimes tribunal.....one can dare to dream.

Emal is right - remember with Clinton, it wasn't about the sex, it was because he lied about it, that was their justification for the $70+ million spent (of course it wasn't about the sex, probably the majority of them in Washington have a honey on the side). Well, just ONE of Bushco's lies have cost over $300 billion - who could even begin to total the emotional and finanical cost to thousands of people who have had sons/husbands wounded or killed - the lies have continued non-stop with this gang - where is the rage from the public?
Lying about sex was not and is not as important as what this administration have lied about. As Clinton said on an interview with Katie Couric after the opening of his library, I believe, and she questioned him about morals and he responded something to the effect of don't even go there, what I did, I hurt myself and paid for it, I didn't hurt anyone else (or along those lines). The WHOLE WORLD is suffereing because of Bush and his evil gang.

I see you have never been around the Capital when work starts for the day. Quite the lovely ladies going to work. Nary anything B-grade working there. And lest we forget, remember the Senate Page scandal where the Pages (high school kids) were having sex with the Senators? They're above reproach, them Senators, just don't turn your back on them.

There is a big cover-up headed for July. Mark my words, something huge is going to happen, and the media is being put in place to divert everyone's attention.

Posted by phidipides at May 23, 2005 01:24 PM

It's kind of hard to make the arguement that Newsweek has damaged America's image when the Quran story is sandwiched between Abu Graib and Saddam in shorties.

Posted by argus at May 23, 2005 01:28 PM

You can't do that! Clues???

Divert our attention, okay, but will it work???

More lies, more coverups?

Were you phrasing a question to me? If so, don't put my name in the Name thingy.

Yes, I was, and sorry, I think I didn't "tab" down enough before typing your name.

Posted by ggb at May 23, 2005 01:53 PM

I don't know if y'all have ever heard this one before, but why would Newsweek have apologized for anything if they felt they had nothing to do with the violence?

Let me guess. A guilty conscience?

Posted by Toby Petzold at May 23, 2005 03:28 PM

Toby, apparently the concept of White House intimidation and Beltway access doesn't register on your radar screen. Being blamed by the White House for anything, no matter how empty the charges are, and to suffer the usual torrent from the Mighty Wurlitzer is enough for a media outlet to cut its losses early, even if the facts behind the story (Koran desecration) were never ever successfully refuted by the White House.

Posted by Steve Soto at May 23, 2005 03:33 PM

All, don't even address Toady, uh Toby, on Newsweek. His question doesn't even derserve a response - the filthy troll!

Posted by jj at May 23, 2005 03:35 PM

Karzai:

"Those demonstrations were in reality not related to the Newsweek story...They were more against the elections in Afghanistan. They were more against the progress in Afghanistan."

Is this just a grammatical issue? Karzai says the violence was more a matter of anti-democratic forces at work. Well, if the Newsweek story had nothing to do with the violence ---in his view--- then anything would be more the cause than nothing. No?

My candidate for what's more relevant: medieval-minded Islamofascism and its dhimmified apologists.

Well, in this case, the "empty charges" were made by Newsweek magazine. Is that so easy to forget? And Scott McClellan is now the villain by suggesting that those craphounds make clear what happened?

How desperately you people wish we were living under tyranny! How much simpler it would be to have actual examples of oppression to point to and feel validated by in your [rebelliousness].

Jeezus, Toby, yank the tube sock off your cock for a second and try to listen to those with whom you're arguing.

Posted by Matt Davis at May 23, 2005 04:35 PM

Right, Toby. The one little sentence in Newsweek caused all the problems with America's image in the Islamic world. We'll just pretend the torture, sadistic disrespect and deaths never happened.

I guess you wouldn't have any problems being picked up by Martians and played with in a little cat game. They don't really mean anything bad even if you end up dead.

Posted by Mary at May 23, 2005 04:42 PM

Yes, I was, and sorry, I think I didn't "tab" down enough before typing your name.

No problem. One of those "I hope the other personalities aren't emerging," moments. I saw my name and didn't recognize the writing.

As to your questions: I'm following a line of occurrences starting from last week. I'd rather not stick my neck out at this point, and I'm not Nostradamus. I was really hoping for an "I saw it too."

How desperately you people wish we were living under tyranny!

Hurry up. Call us all traitors again. How desperate we are to lose the tyranny those like you conspire to force us to live under. When this is all over, we will sit back and revel in vanquishing those much as yourself. A fig for you, and "Sic Semper Tyrannus!"

How much simpler it would be to have actual examples of oppression to point to and feel validated by in your [rebelliousness].

Election fraud? Protests not allowed? Hand picked crowds and no liberals allowed? Failed tax policy? Cutting veteran's benefits? Failing to support the troops? Environmental policy? Energy policy? Theocracy? Oligarchy? Plutocracy?

Pick one and take your medicine, Nimrod.

If Wendy's wasn't responsible for the finger in the chili, why'd they give away free Frostys last weekend?

Ann:

Because there's no such thing as bad publicity?

Why would I have a tube sock on my cock? Is that the sort of thing that affects my reception? Maybe you're thinking of your own tinfoil hat.

Posted by Toby Petzold at May 23, 2005 06:20 PM

Islamofascists? Why Toby you voted for their agenda! The Sauds thank you for your support. Next they will be sending that support onto terrorist organizations. You and your hero's love of the Sauds and fundamentalism disgusts me. Prince Bandar will be sure to give you a big wet kiss the next time he's in town.

Mary:

Right, Toby. The one little sentence in Newsweek caused all the problems with America's image in the Islamic world.

Newsweek is an arm of Big Media. It's been Big Media that's claimed that the Koran Flushing story was behind the violence in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Why is that? Because that's what the [protesters] there told Big Media? I mean, it wasn't the White House who first claimed that, after all. Maybe Big Media has been lying about the cause of the violence ---including lying to the White House.

In any event, why are y'all defending Big Media's right to lie? (I'm not even going to ask why people of your stripe would be defending Michael Isikoff.)

Posted by Toby Petzold at May 23, 2005 06:35 PM

I'm not defending big media. I am pointing out that the President and his team created the "credibility" problem with the Islamic world. You might want to tell me why you think you have to standup for a lying SOB who can't even do the empire thing right. At least Caesar had a plan for after he conquered the new territories.

Posted by Mary at May 23, 2005 09:18 PM

In any event, why are y'all defending Big Media's right to lie?

Surely you are aware that FOX News established in a court proceeding that they had a First Amendment right to lie in news reports.

If you have a problem with the media lying, take it up with FOX for being so blatant as to claim they had a RIGHT to lie!

Posted by Repack Rider at May 23, 2005 09:23 PM

Toby -

Of course there's such a thing as bad publicity - sales at Wendy's were in the tank after the finger incident. So, they tried to make up for it with free Frosty's.

Did Newsweek want to see a GOP led boycott of their magazine? Did they want to have White House access cut off completely? Of course not, so under pressure from the White House, they retracted a short blurb about desecration of the Koran which we already know has happened in Guantanamo Bay.

Newsweek did not retract the blurb because it led to violence in Iraq. They did it because it could have hurt their bottom line if they had done nothing. Always follow the money; it's the simplest rule out there.
