Comments: Bush Waits Until Late Friday News Dump To Admit Some Koran "Mishandling"

F****** B*******! I am sorry. I am normally very civil, but this kind of arrogance and subterfuge just ticks me off. I hope they don't let this news story die like all the other important stories they have managed to cover up, and manipulate. We need to do something about this. THIS HAS TO STOP!

Those who believe that the gitmo prisoners are guilty until charged will never listen to this or anything else. They all believe that anyone in gitmo is there for a reason. Nevermind what that reason might be i.e. wrong place wrong time. None of those who do this sort of chicken shit stuff would ever imagine theselves in a similar position . . . those with control never do.

I'm so sick of this. Don't these f*cks realise that every time they do this to one of gitmo "detainees" they 1) dis all of the POW's of vietnam and korea and 2) piss off people who would have never been pissed except for this.

Even heard whatshisface (dave apologist whatever) on the newshour call for an indepenent investigaion. Ain't gonna happen.
Or if it does, it will be too late.

Living on the bitter end of this, I worry about how I can keep my job, given the idiocy of this admin. I keep thinking, why are we flooded with Turks?

I once wondered where they would put all those at gitmo, or what they would do with them. It's clear now and it is also a disgrace.

Back to my original point, the conservatives will never acknowledge any of this, no matter who screams. They say, "torture them, they deserve it," without seeing the other side of it.

We are lost and I am sad because of it.

Check out what the white trash at LGF have to say about it - read the comments. File this under the "Why do they hate us?" drawer.

Yup Michelle and Elrod--

The push polling data are in and the answer is clear, the Base +10 is now giving the right answer.

So, now that the Kool-Aid has been fully formulated it's time to foist it on us all.

Soon enough it will be turned into something to the effect that, 'the incarcerated were pissing on the books themselves in a devious attempt to later gag their freedom interrogators on the smell.'

Steve,

Couldn't you have come up with a better post that just a bitchfest about how corrupt Bush and his administration are? I mean, don't we already know that???

For my money, the most interesting part about all of this is going to be how hard Newsweek hits back. After having every right-wing pundit stick a hot poker up their ass a few weeks ago, and after having to apologize to the nation (and God, I'm sure), are they going to come out swinging themselves? Or are they going to allow themselves to be pushed around?

At some point someone in the press has to say, "I'm not a pussy!" Will it be Newsweek?

When you print the truth (or speak it), never, but never backdown. Newsweek chose to backdown, and by doing so, got just what they deserved.

From NBC Saturday morning: Only 4 of seventeen incidents can be proven true. Stepping on the Koran, accident. Urinating on the Koran, accident. However, getting the Koran wet by throwing water balloons into the prisoner's cells is true. What the hell is that about? I guess dodge the balloon is something the guards do to pass the time. Oh, and by-the-way, NBC did say that Newsweek was accountable for the riots in Afganistan.

NBC did say that Newsweek was accountable for the riots in Afganistan.

as did NPR this morning, more than once. yeah, they're getting more of my money.

The Left Coaster is in its third year of daily publishing, all of it free, much of it very good with the medium offering features not found in print.

Steve Soto founded The Left Coaster out of pure love for the truth, his country and writing. Uncountless hours of brutal labor and thousands of dollars in costs have only led him down a road of horrifying political losses and a crackling daily grind, yet here he is still.

Mature detached souls will easily ignore your impertinence, Miss Manners, but smouldering defensive souls like mine will not. It's one thing to have the trolls stroll in, quite another to get knifed by an aware mind that should know better.

If I ever see you talk to Mr. Soto like that again and I'll give up 60 minutes of contemplation of what to do--detachment is for fools, realists inflict tactics.

I won't sit here and take it. I have a set of keys to this blog and I literally live in the ether--all I do is create and interact with web files. If you blithely assume there will be no consequences for posts like that you're simply wrong.

Oh, I can't wait to see the coverage of this on Fox! Oh, wait, that's right, they're probably covering the Michael jackson trial. What's a little Koran peeing when Wacko's jury is going into deliberations?

I hope they don't let this news story die

how hard Newsweek hits back

I have the suspicion ol' Isikoff is going at this story ten times harder now. Fineman was on Olbermann last night expressing Newsweek's indignation and saying everyone is still going at this story. You hear that Derita? Dare I ask: is the worm finally turning? Keep your eye on Newsweek.

as did NPR - Scott Simon is a lazy fuck. He has all week to prepare and think about these stories. Let 'im know he fucked up here.

It's pathetic how you treasonous lins care more about the ENEMY than your own country.

NO WONDER YOUR PARTY KEEPS LOSING ELECTIONS!!!

Posted by benjoya at June 4, 2005 10:27 AM

So when is Newsweek going to ask Scott McClellan for an apology?( ok the quran wasn't in the toilet, the piss came to the quran). I just want this story to be screaming for at least a week, right?

Lol! Democrats aren't the ones that hold hands with terrorists-it's your hero Bush!

Posted by ga6thdem at June 4, 2005 11:39 AM

Yeah, what's Bush doing holding hands and kissing the leader of our enemy. ROOF, you must hate America if you support a president who consorts with our enemy. Oh, and remind me again how Saddam was a bigger threat than Iran or North Korea.

Vent? Those "detainees" live in open cages. Where was this vent?

Posted by Killer at June 4, 2005 03:23 PM

as long as we are torturing and religiously defaming non- christians, our general public could care less.

Dear Steve Soto . . .

I enjoyed your missive.

I too felt a need to discuss Guantánamo. After the more recent revelation, my need deepened. I put my thoughts to page. Please explore my thoughts and share yours. I offer a short excerpt of my essay . . .
DESECRATE THE QUÁRAN. WAS NEWSWEEK EVER IN ERROR? ©

On Friday night, June 3, 2005, the true story of the Quáran [Koran] was made public. Newsweek did not report the story; they were beaten, battered, and badly bruised. They could take no more chances, no more criticism.

Amnesty International did not disclose these details, though this organization had also revealed disturbing tales of woe and derision. This recent release was that of the American military. A Department of Defense inquiry affirms that guards and interrogators at the Guantánamo Bay detention center in Cuba kicked, stepped on, and splashed urine on the Quáran.

The Pentagon asserts the “splashing of urine was unintentional.” It is said to have occurred when a guard urinated near an air vent. The wind blew his urine through the vent, into the prisoners cell, and onto the detainee's clothing and holy book. One might wonder. Clearly there are toilets at Guantánamo Bay; there was never a denial of that. Yet, a guard feels a need to urinate in public. Why?
