Speaking of bandits... I heard more proposals to "remove the cap" this weekend, referring to the $90K limit on social security taxes. Some are calling this proposal the "Tiger Woods Tax."
Tiger Woods made approx $80 Million last year. He pays both sides of the social security tax, or 12.4%.
Removing the $90K limit would make Tiger Woods have to write an approx additional $10 Million check to the Social Security system.
Holy Moses!
Of course, the other problem with removing the cap, is that there would be a tremendous increase in revenues into the general fund. We'd immediately have a huge surplus in the general fund. Congress would then encumber new spending programs which most likely grow at a rate faster than growth+CPI, as all government programs do. Thus, those funds would then be unavailable for Social Security anyways, and we'd still have a crisis.

Anyone got an origional idea?
Poverty is a mental disease at worst and a behavioral disorder at best. The rich keep getting richer because they keep doing the things that make them rich. Ditto for the poor. Everyone is where they are in life as a direct result of the decisions they have made to put them there. If they've worked hard, they can be rich. If not, then they won't be rich. Unless, of course, you're a Kennedy and get rich by default.

There was a large side order of sarcasm served with that steaming pile, right?

Especially that first crucial decision of picking the right parents. Right?
Posted by Mary at June 6, 2005 10:08 PMEveryone is where they are in life 'cause of their own decisions. Yeah, like people choose birth defects, low IQ's, crack mothers, neighborhood schools that are like concentration camps, anti-intellectual families, sexual abuse, etc.
