Comments: Another Bush Lie - Success In The War On Terror

Geez, Steve, everybody who's serious about fighting terror knows that stuff like arresting people won't do any good--killing one out of every five people on Earth or so is the only sane strategy for fighting these people!

God, I feel so much safer knowing the idiot son has his hand firmly on the wheel, jaw set in grim determination, steering the Ship of State onto the rocks and snatching defeat from the jaws of victory on every swell. I'm comforted knowing that the Patriot Act is scouring the dark night with it's cyclopian beam of truth and justice, gathering information about the checking accounts, credit cards, DVD rentals and library usage of all Americans and combining that data into a Pop Tart of information that gets flagged for those who know what is best for you and me, but those same people consider all of us the enemy at the same time. I know I say it a lot, but sometimes it bears repeating. Fucking morons. Neo-cons and republi-cons, the whole lot, fucking morons.

This report ran on the front page of my local rag, albeit below the fold, but for this red state paper, a pretty prominent location. Basically just saying "Bush is lying to you". I can't help but think there must be a bit of awakening going on out there.... maybe that is reflected in the plummeting poll numbers for the Liar President.

Since there is no such thing as "TERROR" - Bush is neither winning or losing the war on it.

The Des Moines Register files a Freedom of Information Act and finds the Justice Department cooking the terrorism books. DesMoines Register (05.16.05), via CJRDaily:

"Newly released documents show that the U.S. Justice Department has greatly broadened how it defines and counts terrorism-related cases, a move that helped justify the department's call for more funding and greater powers. However, the scant information provided about those cases has watchdog groups and members of Congress crying foul.

The records show that top officials instructed federal prosecutors nationwide to catalog their work in ways that served to inflate the number of terrorism investigations."

Broader definition of terror criticized

This is great: For example, in Iowa, three contractors "who failed to report drug convictions prior to starting work at airport runway jobs" were arrested. Three more successful terrorism arrests for the Justice Department. Yay!!

"'I don't know why they would call those terrorism cases,' said U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican. 'They are obviously not.'"

"Even tips that were immediately disregarded...were to be counted as terrorism-related investigations." Double yay!!

Next thing you know, they'll be counting medical marijuana arrests as terrorism related cases.

Hey everyone - I'm a Conservative visiting this site. Note, that's "Conservative," not "Republican." There is a difference - a HUGE one these days. I'm not much of a Dubbya fan, I must say, although I do support the war on terror (and terror does exist, by the way, for the person who said it doesn't).

My take is this: at least Dubbya's trying to do something about terrorism and our armed forces have already made a significant dent in terrorist organizations, whether you want to believe it or not. We are attacking them before they have a chance to get over here, and we're trying to eliminate terrorist-friendly regimes that shamelessly defy UN laws to which they had previously agreed (see: Iraq - we didn't go to war for WMDs, people, we went to war in Iraq to hold Saddam Hussein accountable for his blatant disregard for UN laws to which he agreed, and we can't afford to have a ruler in power like Saddam Hussein now that we have seen the reality of terrorism in this day and age).

What I DON'T like is people on the left who spend all their time only complaining about what Dubbya does, but NEVER EVER EVER offer any alternative solutions. Quit complaining and come up with a solution already. Shout Abu Ghraib and Halliburton all you want while ignoring the despicable treatment of women and children around the world OUTSIDE the US. Did you know that while you and Dick Durbin are busy complaining about American servicement and women and loud rap music in a terrorist's cold jail cell at Guantanamo Bay, 270-million CHILDREN were forced to work around the world today... AGAIN? But nevermind that. You totally ignore that because you're too worried making sure you point out something else you hate about a Republican President. Hate is more important to you guys on the left these days than fair treatment of everyone across the globe.

Give us solutions - there's enough bitching going on in the world while people on the right actually try to solve problems (not to say they DO, of course, but at least they try... more often). I seriously want to hear your solutions about terrorism. I want to hear what you would have done with Saddam Hussein in Iraq after he violated 17 UN resolutions and the UN sat on their hands and did nothing, especially in a post-9/11 world. I want to know what you would do differently to find bin Laden. I want to know what your answer would have been to 9/11. Would you have invaded terrorist training camps in Afghanistan or anywhere else, or would you have invited bin Laden to the White House to talk it over?

Seriously - get past your blind anger for anything to the political right of you and give me answers. I haven't heard a single one from any of your so-called "Liberal" and "Tolerant" leaders. Pelosi complains nonstop, Ted Kennedy complains nonstop, Schumer complains nonstop, Durbin complains nonstop... hell, John Kerry's entire campaign was based on complaining about Bush (and destroying America's health system even further, but that's a different debate). I haven't heard a single, viable solution out of anyone on the left yet, and I've been waiting since September of 2001.

Keep in mind, I have plenty of complaints about Dubbya and his policies which I may bore you with at a later date if I ever post here again. But for now, I don't want any more complaints - I want solutions. I want to believe there are other viable solutions that are better than what we've done so far, but no one on the left has given any yet.

Anyway, like I said - just get past your anger, think clearly, save the personal insults and shout out some real solutions for once. And one last thing... PLEASE, for the love of God (or whoever), do NOT post the typical, "Oh yeah?! Well what about _____!" response. That's just another complaint. Would it kill you to discuss something rationally with someone on the right for once instead of proving your outright hatred for anything right of center?
