Howard Dean speaks for me

Posted by SnarkyShark at June 16, 2005 03:01 AM

Way to go Snarky! I'm a Dean fan too, and I'm so proud of him! I knew that if things got any worse, he'd be roaring like a king--and that was two years ago! Terry's tragedy under the Repubs is only equal to what happened here in my county. School board passed it's policy: No sex or drugs or alcohol abuse, anything immoral can be portrayed in high school plays. Which means drama departments will fold soon, in every school in the USA. Mind control, CONTROL!!! The governor of Texas wants to push a bill declaring that all homosexuals are banned from living in Texas. Then: any homosexual serving in the military in Iraq or wherever, cannot return to Texas after tour of duty.

Welcome to AMERIKA!!!

Perry's an idiot. Texas seems pretty Republican, but it was not that long ago that we had a Democratic govener(Ann Richards).

Chimpys boat is sinking, Delay will become a major embaressment, and I think in a few years you will be hard pressed to find anybody who will admit to voting Republican.

That said, I wish the US would just kick Texas the hell out of the union. And I say that as someone who was born and raised here. Texans deserve it for buying into some carpetbagger from Kenny-bunk-port coming down and claiming to be a good-old boy.

But then again, half the good old boys down here are from waaayyy north of I-10.

Posted by SnarkyShark at June 16, 2005 03:27 AM

Snarky,

Don't feel alone. Half of those with a rebel flag bumper stickers on their pickup trucks in SC have yankee accents. This may be the worse thing about Bush, stupid is in.

Posted by rlprather at June 16, 2005 04:12 AM

the country is just starting to recover from the nervous breakdown it had after 9/11..which allowed the scum that is now in charge to be there....perhaps when we are thinking clearly again many in this administration will be charged with the war crimes for which they are most assuredly guilty..5 more soldiers yesterday...a war conceived on lies by men devoid of humanity is certainly a bit more serious then a consenual sex act..

Posted by dennis at June 16, 2005 05:23 AM

Speaking of Texas, I was born there, but only lived there a total of two years, then my parents had the good sense to move me out and around the country and the world. I just put my mom on a plane this morning, headed for Dallas. She will be forced to reunion with redneck family members, one of which is my Aunt who is a Bush lover. I asked her over the phone once, "So how do you feel now, since so many American kids are dying over there in Bush's war in Iraq?" "Wey-ull, that ain't HIS fault!" Stupid is in, it's always been in. More pervasive than ever. I heard on NPR today that the DSM can be viewed depending on your take on the war. What the hell does that mean? Is that stupid or what? It's NPR propaganda, and now the government wants to curb PBS?

I'm not proud to be a Texan, and it goes back to LBJ who was just as BAD as BushCo. I haven't seen any study in comparisons of both administrations--however, LBJ was rubbed out by political dissent. You won't see that nowadays, because the press is so cooperative. LBJ was a monster. Eisenhower is the ONLY recent president comin' out smellin' like a rose.

Gotta love the good doctor Frist's back-pedalling on his video tape diagnosis of Ms. Schiavo. Truly pathetic. The man just doesn't even have the spine to say he was wrong and he was out of line. Good leadership qualities.

Posted by muckcat at June 16, 2005 06:06 AM

Schiavo - irreversable damage - husband vindicated and GOP revealed as political opportunists without morals. News reports say GOP now looking for Social Security Scam exit strategy after Bush failure. 6 more GI's dead in Bush's Iraq War he lied to the American people to start. Downing Street Memos showing up in Red State newspapers. Polls show Bush in low 40's approval. Wheels off cart.

Texas: the worst week I ever spent in my life was the hour I spent struggling to get through the terminal reconstruction work while changing planes at DFW! I was really afraid that I'd miss my plane and have to stay there overnight until the next plane left in the morning. After all, you know what they say about Texas - nothing there but steers and ...

Posted by jjoats at June 16, 2005 06:30 AM

I agree with pessimist...Dallas/Ft. Worth is the worst airport in the country. Makes Chicago O'Hare look like well oiled machine.

In fairness to Texans, other than DFW airport never been there, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. But when they keep electing people like Rick Perry and John Cornyn, its makes it difficult.

Posted by Jason at June 16, 2005 06:36 AM

my large red state capital city's lone newspaper today had a front page article, followed inside by a full page devoted to the Downing Street Memos. The article actually used the words "Bush" and "lying" in the same sentence. I think somethings up. My hardcore right wing mom has now stopped watching the news because its "all bad". What she means, of course, is that it's "all bad" for Bush.

Posted by T2 at June 16, 2005 06:41 AM

I think in a few years you will be hard pressed to find anybody who will admit to voting Republican.

Snarky, they are just getting comfortable admitting that they voted for Goldwater and for Nixon and thought Nixon was railroaded. Don't hold your breath on that one. As one old goat put it at one gathering of Republi-con academics, "This is the first time in a long time that I can admit in public that I voted for Nixon... the first time!" If they've been holding their breath since 1960, don't expect them to get embarassed by much.

As for Schiavo conspiracies, just take a look at Faux News--they put an interesting spin on the autopsy report: "There are still a lot of unanswered questions." Of course, if you're a True Believer that's not true either--all questions are answered, even if the answer is always the same. As Snarky said it, [they] win every argument, because facts don't matter.

Posted by buck turgidson at June 16, 2005 06:43 AM

in defense of Texas, I lived half my life in southern California, a pretty conservative place that has given us the likes of Randy "real estate scam" Cunningham and Duncan "looky, I eat prisoner food" Hunter, not to mention a Nazi's son as governor. LAX is no picnic either.

Posted by Goyo at June 16, 2005 07:47 AM

Ahhhh, Texas. My last trip to Texas was an eye-opener. The 1-35 corridor is packed with businesses. 18 months earlier they were open for business and appeared to be doing well, but on my last drive I had trouble finding an open restaurant and places to get gas. It's like a ghost town in many areas. The republi-con policies are working, Texas is getting fucked with the rest of us.

The remarkable thing about Texas is that the majority of white people down there really suck. These must be the most ego driven narcissistic pack of drooling evangelical idiots ever gathered in one place on this planet. It's similar to being in France, but the French aren't stupid and will warm-up after they realize you aren't a crude or stupid American. Not white Texans, they are purely fundamentalist dick-wads. But on the other hand, the hispanics, blacks, asians, and middle easterners are great Texans. Friendly, chatty, lovely people. They make Texas tolerable when I have to go there.

You win every argument, because facts don't matter.

Schiavo was blind and had no brain function. Why must we celebrate the death of an average republi-con?

Posted by phidipides at June 16, 2005 07:48 AM

generally speaking there are only two kinds of republicans..they are either very selfish..or really stupid..there are other variations..but not many

Posted by dennis at June 16, 2005 08:28 AM

There are lots of them that are both selfish AND stupid.

Posted by Matt Davis at June 16, 2005 08:35 AM

The majority of republi-cons are white, christian, and stupid. I call it the Trifecta of political insanity.

Posted by phidipides at June 16, 2005 08:40 AM

It's amazing how the husband managed to get all these people to work with him in this alleged conspiracy too. But what I find even more amazing is the amount of media attention this has received, when there are many, many Terry Schiavos who receive no public attention and little help.

On a recent trip to Dallas, I noted how many strip joints and adult book stores there were. I live in a very liberal blue state and would be hard pressed to find a strip joint within a 2 hour drive of my home. In Dallas, I passed 5 strip joints, 2 massage parlors, and 2 adult book stores in a 5 mile stretch of I635. These fine establishments were all located next to or very near family eateries like TGIF, Chilis, and Applebees. So much for those Red State moral values!

Washington, DC, Jun. 13 (UPI) -- Insider notes from United Press International for June 8

A former Bush team member during his first administration is now voicing serious doubts about the collapse of the World Trade Center on 9-11. Former chief economist for the Department of Labor during President George W. Bush's first term Morgan Reynolds comments that the official story about the collapse of the WTC is "bogus" and that it is more likely that a controlled demolition destroyed the Twin Towers and adjacent Building No. 7. Reynolds, who also served as director of the Criminal Justice Center at the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas and is now professor emeritus at Texas A&M University said, "If demolition destroyed three steel skyscrapers at the World Trade Center on 9/11, then the case for an 'inside job' and a government attack on America would be compelling." Reynolds commented from his Texas A&M office, "It is hard to exaggerate the importance of a scientific debate over the cause of the collapse of the twin towers and building 7. If the official wisdom on the collapses is wrong, as I believe it is, then policy based on such erroneous engineering analysis is not likely to be correct either. The government's collapse theory is highly vulnerable on its own terms. Only professional demolition appears to account for the full range of facts associated with the collapse of the three buildings."

Posted by judith at June 16, 2005 12:18 PM

Not for nothing but what does an economist know about controlled demolition of skyscrapers?

What is he positing exactly?

Only professional demolition appears to account for the full range of facts associated with the collapse of the three buildings.

So....after two airliners slammed into the buildings some professional demoliion experts went in a conducted a controlled demolition? Or charges were planted before the planes struck?

Posted by muckcat at June 16, 2005 12:29 PM

Judith, are you fucking kidding me?!?!?!?! I had no idea that there was even a QUESTION about 'why the towers fell'........

So, this guy is claiming that they flew planes into the towers, and then someone set off demolishion-style high explosives to bring them down?!?!?

I don't know, I'm as much of a 'tin foil hat' conspiritist as the next guy on this site, but that really seems like a pretty big stretch to me...

But if it's TRUE...?? My oh my, they should string everyone in this administration up by their genitals and slowly burn them to death with blowtorches.

Posted by Marty at June 16, 2005 12:32 PM

On second thought, they should just do that anyway, true story or not!! LOL!!!

Posted by Marty at June 16, 2005 12:34 PM

Judith,

This Reynolds guy thinks planes never actually hit the World Trade Center.

So that would mean that all the video footage of the planes hitting the towers was faked.

I'm not sure why this guy ever left the Bush administration. Seems like he'd fit right in.

Posted by muckcat at June 16, 2005 12:55 PM

i have always felt that this admistration knew that something was coming and did very little to stop it...they wanted something to happen..i think the facts on that speak for themselves....but i don't believe they ever dreamed it would be as big as the world trade centers...nevertheless they are guily of failing to protect the citizens of this country..condi rice was a failure..and what did she get..promoted....they knew something was coming and they wanted a license to do as they pleased with no argument...9/11 certainly gave them that

Posted by dennis at June 16, 2005 01:09 PM

I always knew Bush ordered 9/11; that it was a conspiracy among his bretheren. He's a sadist! It's hard to swallow and difficult to believe, because...like, this is America. Hitler's tactics were hard to take and hard to believe because it was Germany of Goethe, Beethoven, Wagner, etc. Anybody who thought the towers fell like that from the airplanes...I never believed any of it! I never will believe the official story of 9/11! No responsible citizen should! Rep. Conyers can't even get a room to hold his hearings today...what does that tell us?

Posted by Mal Feasance at June 16, 2005 01:43 PM

The article was sent to me by my Cousin, and I thought it was interesting. This is just one of many articles written supporting this hypothesis, so this is not a new thought. I personally, never believed the story that two planes brought down the WTC buildings.

If I were to put on my tinfoil hat (which is always kept handy) I might believe that a)this WH conspired with the Saudi Royal family on 911, b) that 911 was used to initiate a war against Iraq (don't forget that this WH lead Americans to believe that Iraq was somehow involved in 911), and c) the War on Terror was born out of the ashes of 911, which has certainly lead to the ever decreasing rights of Americans. Hey, what can I tell ya. Maybe I have too much time on my hands.

Posted by Judith at June 16, 2005 02:41 PM

Wow!

Mal & Judith I don't know what to say to that.

Wow!

chinese saying..the truth has a thousand faces

our leaders..the lieing scum bastards that they are..knew that some act of terrorism was imminent..that's a fact......it's in the history books..they did little to stop it...fbi..cia..there was always some roadblock....to what was happening...we know now the war was planned early in the administration..9/11 let them trample on everything...our rights as american citizens are being taken away...it all began with the supreme court decision..you know the one i mean...where in our precious democracy..they stopped counting the votes...oil...oil...oil..

Posted by dennis at June 16, 2005 02:52 PM

Muckcat, what's 3,000 lives to these people if it means furthering their agenda? Hell, they have sent to death almost 2,000 Americans for oil What's the big deal?

Posted by Judith at June 16, 2005 02:56 PM

Please go to whatreallyhappened.com there are many excellent stories there that go into this deeply. Such as why didn't the secret service, whose sole purpose is to protect the president, whisk him out of that school as soon as they knew we were being "attacked"? They said they didn't want to alarm the children. So they'd rather put them at risk, since it had been known publicly that dubya would be there, and that he may have been a potential target. That is crazy. It truly is the dog that didn't bark. Check it out.

Posted by patriot at June 16, 2005 03:41 PM

I'm the cousin the sent Judith the article on Morgan Reynolds and 911.
For those in this thread who disagree, let me compliment the civilized manner in which you've done so.On some sites,I've been called every name in the book ,just for raising the subject.

I could suggest 50 websites for you to look at.But that might be leading you to a conclusion. So I'll only ask that you spend a couple of hours ,Googling around,to make your own determination about whether or not "tinfoilhats" like me have some reasonable suspicions.

Posted by Kevin at June 16, 2005 05:08 PM

In my most paranoid moments, I can buy that Bush et al. let 9/11 happen, since they could see the value of a good Reichstag Fire.

But faking it? There you're talking about a conspiracy that would be orders of magnitude more difficult, both to engineer and to cover up.

Posted by Matt Davis at June 16, 2005 07:43 PM

Kevin,

Are you telling me that you believe that the planes that are seen flying into the towers of the World Trade Center did not really fly into the buildings?

I did not see the second plane hit. I saw the explosion from the north. I was standing at Fifth Avenue and 23rd street watching the north toer burn. The plane that hit the north tower went right over our office and scared the crap out of us. A coworker was entering the building and saw the explosion of the first impact. I know people who saw the second plane hit. They were on a roof top in Brooklyn. I stood and wached with my coworkers as the towers collapsed.

So if your contention is that all the video footage of planes striking the towers is faked it's really hard for me to understand how you could rationalize that.

I'm not interested in calling people names. It never helps anyones argument.

Posted by muckcat at June 16, 2005 07:47 PM

I noted how many strip joints and adult book stores there were.

If I'm not mistaken, DeLay or some other noted republi-con owns huge shares in the Tay-hass porn industry.

Posted by phidpides at June 16, 2005 10:00 PM

There are two main schools of thought among 911 skeptics.
1.LIHOP(Let it happen on purpose)
2.MIHOP (Made it happen on purpose).
Most of those in the MIHOP camp believe the planes that hit the World Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon and that crashed near Shanksville Pennsylvania, were switched out from the originals.
But ,too me ,that is jumping way ahead.Isn't the first question, "Does the story told to us by the administration hold up? Or does it fall apart with scrutiny?"
I hope you will put scrutiny to the all the information ,presented by all sides.

Posted by Kevin at June 16, 2005 10:39 PM

Muckcat, no the planes did indeed hit the WTC. That's not the point. The point is who was behind 911.

Posted by Judith at June 17, 2005 10:01 PM

I agree with Matt. I think this administration wanted a sense of urgency created that would allow them to do many things, so they let it happen. Their lack of competence in their work tends to rule out them making it happen. That would have been far too complecated and they would have screwed it up.

BTW, more people I know are becoming aware of the oil-money cycle: We import Saudi crude and some of them use the money to harm us. With education, energy self sufficency could become part of our national ethos. Granted, it won't happen in the next four years, but by 2009 people may be ready for changes beyond just the political.

Posted by rlprather at June 18, 2005 09:18 AM

unless your are from one of three cities, LA, Chicago, or New York, welcome to the Big City!!

Smalltown hicks from Seattle,Boston, or Washington D.C. don't have the intellegence (U.S. Census) to take their heads out of their smalltown asses and realize that Ft.Worth alone is larger than Boston and Seattle.

Now take your smalltown, country brains and try to imagine an airport that has to service a town the size as small as Boston AND a BIGGER city like DALLAS!!

Welcome to the BIg city you idiots!!
