Now that his own party has dumped his Social Security Scam, what will Bush do? Will he continue his phoney "town meetings" and continue to beat the dead horse. Rove wants him to concentrate on Iraq??? Jeez, he's even in worse trouble there than the SS mess. Economy?? the public already hates his ideas on that (or at least they will hate them whenever he has some). Bush at 41% appears to have caught Rove's attention. Maybe the time has come to send George off to Crawfish TX for his vacation a month early...hell, maybe he should just stay there.
Posted by T2 at June 16, 2005 10:18 AMYep, off to Crawford where this lamest of lame ducks can pursue his one true passion and the one thing he really excels at: clearing brush.
Posted by ran at June 16, 2005 10:37 AMNice analysis. But let's not count our chickens before they hatch.
The Beltway Dems can figure out countless ways to blow it in 2006, just like they did in 2002 and 2004, which should have been our years.

Except then we'd have to look at Smirkin' Dick all the time. At least Bush is kind of funny; Dick is serious as a heart attack.
Posted by Matt Davis at June 16, 2005 10:39 AMThe shrub clearing brush...classic.
Posted by at June 16, 2005 10:48 AMDarth Cheney always has that "I'm scared there's a microwave oven near me." sorta look. I wonder how many sleeping pills he has to take at night to get the demons to go away.
Posted by roamer at June 16, 2005 10:58 AMThere soon will be only one way left for the Congressional Rethuglicans to try to save their skins for 2006. Impeachment proceedings. The big question is whether or not they will have the courage to do it.
Posted by roamer at June 16, 2005 11:03 AMwho's live blogging the conyer's downing street memo hearings. Now live on cspan 3. 2:30pm eastern time.
Catch it on the web too.
Posted by patience at June 16, 2005 11:35 AMJohn Bonfaz has him by the balls. The President's March 18 2003 letter is an impeachable offense!!! The president has committed high crimes. Team Bush must be impeached!!
Posted by patience at June 16, 2005 12:22 PMT2,
Scam is an understatement. I can't for the life of me understand why the hell he was trying to do this. There is no political gain for him as far as he is concerned. I don't see that it benefits big business either. So what is the true motivation behind this debacle?
Posted by Centrist at June 16, 2005 12:34 PMCentrist..Bush has had the Private Account itch since he was runnning for TX governor. It is all about eliminating government givaways of all kind, SS being the largest. It is a conservative mantra. Once the government isn't giving away money to the poor, the aged and neglected minorities, taxes that inconvenience big business and the very rich can be eliminated. Of course that sucks for the rest of us, but they don't care. Don't think for a minute you've heard the last SS Scam to come out of this Admin, this Congress or the Radical Conservative Right.
Posted by T2 at June 16, 2005 12:42 PMThe inpeachment of gWb would restore my faith in America and our Government. Bush is guilty of crimes, and no one should think twice about bringing this Country justice once and for all when it comes to this WH.
Posted by Judith at June 16, 2005 12:46 PMRummy, Cheney and others should also face prosecution.
Posted by Judith at June 16, 2005 12:48 PMJudith,
The impeachment and removal of Bush is the only way that our country can redeem itself. I don't think that this is likely, however. I think that it will take decades and many presidents working hard to get our reputation back.
The conyers hearings are some of the finest hours of US government.
Posted by patience at June 16, 2005 12:50 PMWait for it.......another terror alert.

Hell I'm all for smaller government also but let's not go nuts. DOH too late!
Posted by Centrist at June 16, 2005 01:16 PMConyers hearing will be rerun tomorrow on C-span 2 at 8 PM
Was not able to see it on the net
The Conyers hearings are some of the finest hours of US government.
The irony there being that the hearings were not held in a House hearing room because the Republicans running the government refuse to let any Democrats use one. To the extent the Conyers hearings are the finest hour of anything, they are the finest hour of Mr. Conyers, who has refused to be shouted down, and the netroots, who refused to let the Downing Street Minutes story die, despite the government we have.
Posted by paperwight at June 16, 2005 09:14 PMI wish you guys would stop referring to Santorum as "Little Ricky". I am never sure if you are referring to the Senator or his penis. I know that they are both pricks but the intent of your message can change.
I prefer the reference of "embarrassment to the human race"
