Just what the f**k is his "PLAN"? All I hear is "stay the course" or we "have a plan." Why in the hell doesn't some asshole reporter ask him just what is your plan, in detail, and just when will the Iraqis will be trained enough to take over their own Country? If not in the near future, then why not? I am sick to death of simplistic answers from this f**king idiot. Sorry, I am pissed today.
Posted by Judith at June 25, 2005 11:39 AMBush, Cheney and the hired spokes-creatures provide a constant flow of bullshit and outright lies about the situation in Iraq. The corporate press/media runs it on the front page, at the top of the news, and always without qualification.
The result is that the reports from the military and security people who are actually trying to accomplish the administration's goals, the reports that this will take years or may never be accomplished, tend to get buried, or they are dribbled out one at a time.
Posted by James E. Powell at June 25, 2005 12:00 PMWhat quagmire? That must be a liberal term as you won't hear it mentioned among the Republicans. We've only been fighting the War on Terror for four years. What did you expect? To have the Al Queda network subdued? Osama dead or in chains? Its hard work. A man almost seven feet tall, dressed in white, and strapped to a kidney machine is hard to find.
Thank God the insurgency is on its last legs for we could find ourselves there for another 4 or 8 years.

If we're lucky. If not, it could be more than 30 years (if we keep electing f*ckups like Bush).
Posted by Mary at June 25, 2005 12:26 PMWell. the first 30 years was about religion too.

[Editor: ignore=off]"Next the statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception." - Mark Twain, 'The Mysterious Stranger,' 1916, Ch. 9
Bendito, are you, too, thanking God for the better sleep you enjoy? Wake up man—because of a bunch of nasty lies made by those you blindly worship there’s an ugly war way, way out there in which, right now, lots of worthy souls (your fellow countrymen and countrywomen) are forced to spend nights in which I doubt that, sleep, is easy to come by or enjoy.

If IED's are the biggest threat, the only quagmire is in dems' own tactless and disconsolate political posturing.
Hey Bendito, let's test this theory.
Why don't you fly over to Baghdad, and take a walking tour of the city with an "I heart Bush" ball-cap on your head.
I would bet that IED's would be the least of your problems.
The reason IED's ARE the biggest threat to our troops is because they are one of the few weapons the insurgents have which defeats the superior fire-power of the US forces.
Posted by Pat M at June 26, 2005 02:12 PMHi :) I noted Al Qa Qaa too. Did you notice that the facility also had something to do with lasers, which are now being used to detonate the IED's, making them more effective? I don't know if the lasers came from AQQ, but wouldn't it be cool if the corporate media tried to find out? Or even remembered that AQQ existed in the first place? I wonder if BushCo's props at Bragg tonight would be interested to read about any of this.
