You and those polls. I gather you must do polling research for a living. Wet the finger, stick it in the wind, and see which way she's blowin' today.
The same sort of thing happens in the stock market. That is, the markets' poll is the level of bearishness or bullishness by investors. Generaly, whenever things reach an extreme, the market quickly snaps in the opposite direction.
I think the same is true in politics. The GOP unpopularity now probably bodes well for 2006. It's too early.
Posted by muckdog at June 27, 2005 04:32 PMThey're going to dismiss this as an artifact of media doom and gloom about the war. Couldn't possibly be because they have totally botched this from the beginning. Nah.

Of course! And the increase in attacks on our troops shows that we are winning. If they stopped attacking us, it would mean that we have lost! If they kill all our people and drive us out, it means we won!
Mission accomplished!
Peace is war!
Freedom is Slavery!
Up is down!
It all makes perfect sense!
Posted by Repack Rider at June 27, 2005 04:41 PMIntentionally misled the nation to war. A comforting thought to the 1730 or so families who have lost their son or daughter. Intentionally misled the nation to war....impeach him.
Posted by T2 at June 27, 2005 05:08 PMThought 1: What the hay-ell took them so long?
Thought 2: If it took them this long to figure this out despite massive evidence over three solid years, will they keep this opinion if something happens to make Bush look like a leader again?
Thought 3: Wingnuts are goint to spin that this poll queried more Democrats than Republicans and as such is not valid, even though that's a result of the poll (and their idiotic regime) not a qualifier for responding to it.

Posted by 48.2% of America at June 27, 2005 05:43 PMLong term Karl Rove's strategy will be a failure. He is desperately trying to hold 1/3 of the nation with him hoping that it will be enough to win elections. The flip side of that is the fact that with every statement he uses to try to hold the GOP together forces more and more people away from the GOP. So, while he may have 1/3, he has forced the other 2/3 to make an alliance.
Posted by Ga6thDem at June 27, 2005 06:08 PMThe families that have lost loved ones in this War should ban together just like the 911 families did. Then they should demand an the impreachment of George Walker Bush.
Posted by Judith at June 27, 2005 08:16 PMThis pole is consistent with a lot of others, altho others have him at a lower overall number. What I can't understand is how he gets that high an overall approval rating in a poll that asked the question about exaggerating evidence to take the nation to war, and where there is a 6 % advantage in self-described Democrats.
On the other hand, it is remarkable to see a president drop three percentage votes during the first six months of a second term which he won the popular vote, or so we keep being told, by those same three points. But the future has to be weighed not only against Rove ruthlessness, but also the astonishing hostility of the press to all things Democratic; we're all Clintons now.
Posted by Leah A at June 27, 2005 09:35 PMThat is good about self identifiying party ID.
BUT....
The ARG poll had 36%Rep., 38%Dem and I think 24%Ind. Superficially, but only superficially these numbers seem good, but they are not good enough.
See the bad part was that 84% of R's still supported Bush while on our side Dem support was only 77%. the Ind. numbers were like the Dem numbers, but in a midterm election Inds. don't vote in any significant numbers. Until Reps. support for Bush and party declines to somewhere below 80% and dem numbers go above 80% we are still not going to win much in '06.
So let's hope you are right and these self ID numbers signal the beginnings of that decline. But remember Independents have historically just stayed home on election day in non presidential years so the fact that there are more Ind. doesn't necessarily translate into more votes for our candidates vis a vis their candidates. We still have to get more of our voters (D's and I's) to the polls on election day than they do. And we're still not there yet.
Posted by debcoop at June 28, 2005 12:12 AM...eventually they'll stop giving the margin of error to Bush and then claiming there is still a margin of error.
It's how they curbed the real numbers on polls dealing with him in ther election cycles.
Bush bounce= give him margin of error in each poll, repeatedly. The real numbers are far worse.
Posted by Mr.Murder at June 28, 2005 03:34 AMGa6thdem,
Rove's stategy of keeping 1/3 of the population might just work when you factor that the counting of the votes is done by the republican party and for the republican party. Our country will be Diebolded! Either that or the SCOTUS will intervene and cast the deciding 5 votes. All the while the corporate media will ingnore it and will brand anyone who questions it a sore loser.
Posted by emal at June 28, 2005 04:41 AMLiberals, liberals, liberals....
you truly live in a make-believe world. as every socialist/communist state recedes into third world status and as the Democratic Party recedes into oblivion, what's going to be your excuse?
Posted by Robert at June 28, 2005 06:24 AMWhat percentage thinks Bush "Had Personal Involvement in Making 9/11 Happen"?
It just might turn out to be a better reason to impeach him... along with a rather large handful of others.
And yet, despite all the evidence... Move along, nothing to see here.

Posted by empi at June 28, 2005 01:29 PMProfit on 9/11.
I honestly pooh poohed any conspiracy theories up until about two weeks ago, but the more I read and research on the matter, the more I believe something sinister happened here. If only we could prove it.!! More and more people I talk to are starting to come around on the possibility and they were absolutely non-believers. Anyone ever hear of Operation Northwoods. Just do a google search
