It will be repeat of the Rethuglican convention tonite...fear...9/11...fear...9/11...fear...9/11.
Bunnypants is going down in flames. He will be known in 20 years as the worst president in American history. Worse than Millard Fillmore, Rutherfraud B. Hayes or Benjamin Harrison.
trot out the same old tired lies that have got him dropping to the low 40%s. These guys are idiots.

Of course, what else have they got? It's going to be interesting to see if the low 40's turn into high 30's after tonight. My guess is that we're not quite there yet, but I'd love to be surprised.
Posted by rlprather at June 28, 2005 03:05 PMImagine you had fallen asleep 25-30 years ago and awoken today. Would a cursory reading of the last couple year's history make you feel you had fallen down Alice's rabbit hole? I swear it's like channeling my microdot days listening to this administration................
Posted by steve duncan at June 28, 2005 03:10 PMsteve duncan: I've been awake and know that we fell down a rabbit hole in 12/00.
Bush will keep singing this song until it stops working. When that happens, they'll find another boogie man with which to scare the country and another war to distract us.
Posted by Marie at June 28, 2005 03:23 PMAnother item: Bush always responds that is hard work consoling the families of fallen soldiers. When the hell does he ever actually do that? It would be such an obvious PR stunt for Rove to have him filmed doing it they couldn't bypass the chance to flaunt it. Anybody out there remember seeing Bush with grieving wives and kids slumped against him, getting pats on the back and "There, there, he served a greater purpose and he's gone to a greater place" assurances?
Posted by steve duncan at June 28, 2005 03:31 PMHey, Dog the Bounty Hunter says if someone would just advance him expenses, he'd have Osama within 90 days (on Donny Deutsch last night). Sounds worth it to me :)
Posted by TheMadBrewer at June 28, 2005 03:48 PMExpenses, ya wanna ten?
Posted by d at June 28, 2005 06:03 PMYep. He did it again. Tied 9/11 to Iraq. Called the Iraqi people (formerly known as Insurgents) terrorists. Said we were making progress (2.5 years after the predicted "Cakewalk") Same old tired b.s. and Bush looked tired and bored ("hey Karl, this is the same speech I always give"). Even Gergen, hired shill, couldn't really find a way to praise him..."he bought himself some time". Time, my ass, time to ensure the killing of a bunch more US GI's, David. And then, of course, Biden. When will he just give up and say he loves George Bush desperately and wants to marry him.
Posted by T2 at June 28, 2005 06:12 PMThe consensus seems to be that the speech was a dud. It was the same old recycled bs that has been put forth time and again.
Posted by Ga6thDem at June 28, 2005 06:16 PMface it. this was Bush's final chance to salvage his miserably failed Iraq mess. Once again, he failed miserably. Same old B.S. Same old "I'm Constipated" expression. Same old "You have to understand I know what I know" expressions. Same old "Be Scared 'cause 9/11 could happen again" (if I let it, again).
There is a reason he only appears in public surrounded by the military.
Bush forgot the lessons of 9/11 the moment he decided to wait three months before going after bin Laden in Afghanistan, allowing al Qaeda to disperse to fight another day, and then by invading Iraq and making Iraq a new al Qaeda-central. In addition to the other 60+ countries where al Qaeda is still active.
Whose advance of freedom is Bush talking about? The Iraqis can't even govern themselves because the US is controlling everything and has so thoroughly botched things up. How many experts warned Bush that invading Iraq would lead to civil war, inflame the Middle East, provide a lightning rod for Islamist jihadis and boost al Qaeda recruiting? Why does Bush hate America? Just asking.
Posted by Leslie at June 28, 2005 07:10 PMPoor Bush, it's such hard work consoling the soldiers. Right. It's hard work dying for a war based on lies.
