Yup. That's why we need to build more nuclear plants, and create a new fleet of cars that run on hydrogen.
Posted by muckdog at July 14, 2005 09:51 AMRemember how during WWII there was rationing? Maybe that time has returned.
Maybe if Bush would stop pretending that it's okay how much oil Americans and got in touch with reality to realize that the only way to break this cycle is to force us to stop using so much oil.
The Arctic drilling that Bush is so enamoured of isn't going to produce enough oil in anytime soon to do anything. We need to break this bad oil habit and people aren't going to do it on their own or willingly.
Posted by ann at July 14, 2005 10:21 AMDogmuck & Senseless: Hydrogen? Where do you think this hydrogen will come from, saving your farts in a jar? Hydrogen is either extracted from H2O (using electricity created by - guess what - burning carbon-based fuels) or extracting it directly from - you guessed it - carbon-based fuels. Despite Du-uhbya's recent insistence that the US has enough coal to last 250 million years (in actuality it's only 250+/- years) production of hydrogen would NOT I repeat NOT eliminate our dependence on oil and other carbon-based fuels. But please, keep on farting in those jars - just keep the lid tightly sealed for our sakes. Idiots. (:>

Posted by HAHA at July 14, 2005 01:51 PMThe only thing this administration will do is quietly announce the resignation of Treasury Undersecretary Stuart Levey for spilling the beans.
Posted by Daryl at July 14, 2005 01:51 PMAnn may have a point. Instead of building nuclear power plants, we could limit folks to 5 gallons of gas a month, and mandate that thermostats only be set at 90-degrees in the summer, and 55 degrees in the winter.
That'd save a lot of energy.
Posted by muckdog at July 14, 2005 05:23 PMSo, mucky, it's an either/or situation, eh? Bummer.
Posted by iamcoyote at July 14, 2005 05:51 PMif the goall is to quit importing oil, we have to go from 20mil bbl a month to 8 mil.
Posted by muckdog at July 14, 2005 08:12 PMmucky, maybe you shouldn't type when you're so drunk, eh?
