Comments: Letter from California

Liberals strive for a world where government solves solutions in the pursuit of happy, independent lives, not this grim yoke of death, lying, and maiming we live in under Republican rule.

Thank you paradox, you've written why I personally have to lean left rather than right. At one time I liked the first Bush, then I saw in his presidency what Bushism was all about and knew I had to take a stand and work against it. And that was a more moderate form of Bushism than we have now.

Some would quibble with your use of the phrase "solves solutions", I don't. If you consider how in chemestry solutions (liquids) are used as solvents it could be considered a pun. Whether you intended it to be or not, I say the above to preempt any "word nazis" who do wish to distract from an excellent point. Again, if you look at history, it is progressive governments that lead to a better future. We do have a lot of work to do.

I fill up the car with groceries that cost 6-7% more each year. On every $100.00 I spend, I pay $10.00 in sales taxes. It's costs $44 to fill the tank 4 times per week. My electricity cost doubled in 4 years, and is going up again to give corporations a break in their rate. My natural gas doubled in 1 month, and it's going up again, all when it became more plentiful than ever. And Congress is stuffing public utility deregulation up our asses so that Oil Energy can buy your public utility, making it so that those more than fair oil companies can Enron the entire nation. I expect another doubling in these rates within 2 years.

My health premiums doubled, higer deductibles, if a generic equivalent isn't available I have to pay for, and my coverage drops medications once they exceed my premium. I've got healthcare coverage I can't afford to use unless it's catastrophic, and if that should happen I'll be wiped out. My real wages increased 0% from the same job I was doing 4 years ago. I'm working twice as much to try and make ends meet. My savings, accrued since the 1980's are slowly going away. My income taxes are exactly the same, but you can still give me back every dime I pay in and it would be largely consumend by the other increases. The tuition I pay tripled. Fees, over 2/3rds my cost of education, have quadrupled, all at a University with billions of dollars of endowments. I have other family members slowly sliding into bad financial positions and I'm busting my ass to try and prevent that.

I had a conversation with a wildcatter the other day. He's moving $1.5 million offshore to pay $0 fucking taxes on it, and he's trying to figure out how to hide more. Fuck the republi-cons, neo-cons, and TaliEvanFundies. Fuck them. Fuck them all.

Liberals in a Democratic party would not have delivered this current mayhem of incompetence

Wrong. Gray Davis.

And Phid, perhaps you're buying things that average Americans don't buy. The CPI is just over 2%. There just isn't any inflation out there.

perhaps you're buying things that average Americans don't buy.

You mean food and energy? Things not included in the core CPI?

Maybe you mean "Hedonic Regression," where the BLS infers the "pleasure" I get from owning something as an increased utility value that is then weighted to offset the real CPI? The increased cost of the can of soup I bought, or tank of gas I buy, is offset by the increased pleasure I get from a faster computer I didn't purchase. That explains just about fucking everything. I'll go spend some money that just magically appeared in bank accounts from the "Hedonic Regression" analysis I performed, showing my banker the principal components factor analysis I did leading to the logic behind the categories of things I spent my money on! Indeed, my banker will be all the more impressed when I prove I spent nothing more by through a structural equation model I develop using AMOS 5. Magnificent!

People like you are selling this country down the river. I can only hope someone kneecaps you in a drive-by so that everyday you hobble you can understand how people like me are getting hobbled. I'm sure the lesson would be lost on you.

"Fuck them, fuck them all, waaaaaa!!!!" About sums up the contents of Philipides brain stem. Pure reptilian infant.

Gray Davis did not sign the electricity deregulation bill, Pete Wilson did.

Exactly! I'm glad you agree. So, what do we do about it? BTW: that's "phidipides", not "philipides". Since we're going to be friends, good friends, you should get that correct. I'm sorry to say "fuck" and "fuckers" so often, but calling these people what they are, "Cocksucking whores for a failed administration" just doesn't have the same ring.

I could say, "I hope their syphilitic brains explode, breaking their fucking necks so that their rotted spines fall out of their assholes," but that's awfully wordy, don't you think? Or maybe I could write something like, "Why can't Assembly of God ministers stop having sex with their parishoner's children?" But it's Sunday, and I'm charitable.

Now, by my way of thinking, we could address the issue of the CPI, and how nothing costs more than it did 10 years ago. Do you concur?

I'm not even going to pretend to have a rational conversation with a degenerate who hopes someone is kneecapped in a drive by shooting. You are not worth talking to. Maybe some day when you grow up.

The above two posts by Damage is a perfect example of how the righ functions. Damage calls Phidipides "reptilian infant", and when Phidipides responds, Damge posts "I'm not even going to pretend to have a rational conversation with a degenerate. They really just don't get it, do they? Bait your opponent with name calling, and then take the highroad. You guys are so evil and transparent.

By-the-way Damage (good name for you), in case you haven't assimilated this information yet in your little brain, no one here gives a fuck what you think.

Okay, would it be better if I supported the war in Iraq and our troops losing their lives or getting their bodies blown apart by IEDs? Would that give us some common ground? I'm still hoping we can be friends.

You guys are so evil and transparent.

Good call, Judith. They rape and pillage, lie and steal, support death and destruction, then call foul if someone notices. Scum, the lot of them.

I can't wait until the next leftcoaster convention. I need a drink.

OK, so I'm the bad guy because I refuse to respond to somebody who wishes another poster is shot in the knee caps and crippled for life. Pls note my invective did not invoke threats of physical violence. I suppose Phil was merely being whimsical when he wrote that. You people live in a moral universe that is effectively inverted. Bye, now. Have a nice day.

Posted by Mr Damage at July 17, 2005 05:37 PM

Don't worry, Mr. Damage, I've reached the conclusion that Phid is more concerned about partisanship than anything else. He has a belief, and he lashes out against anybody else who has information and facts that suggest otherwise.
