It's back!!! The Roberts distraction didn't work!!! The NYT is finally broadening their coverage to include more of the Bush-Cheney Iraq lies and cover-up.

Republicans aren't the enemy, silly moon bat, the islamofascists are.
Posted by Mike at July 22, 2005 01:27 AMHey Mike, then why when I listen to AM radio, all I hear is that the liberal left in America is the enemy?
I am more concerned with the Christofascists here in the USA than Michael Savage's "Islamofascists."
Islamofascism is a misnomer at best.
Fascism - A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism. The so-called "islamofascists" are not interested in centralized authority, maybe interested in social control but not economic controls, there is no "nation" to be nationalistic about and they aren't racist as much as culturalists.
No look at the right-wing, neo-con, fundamental dominionists...centralized authority -- they think the whatever the President wants should be the law (Why do we need the other two branches of the government? All they do is interfere w/the President's agenda.) Stringent social controls -- you betcha. Economic controls -- more money for the rich (I'm sorry-those that God has smiled upon) and less for the poor (those that are too lazy to get real jobs.) Suppression of the opposition -- if you oppose you are a traitor. Belligerent nationalism -- you better have a flag bumper sticker (preferrably the one shaped like a W) and at least one "I support the troops" magnetic ribbon on you minivan. Racism -- all Arabs/Muslims need to be killed, thats the only way to get rid of the problem and all illegal immigrants need to be rounded up and deported. Sounds like the beginnings of a "final solution" to me.

Posted by benjoya at July 22, 2005 09:08 AMThank you professor, I was getting ready to point out that fascism is a SECULAR form of extreme political control. It manipulates the religion of whatever nation it is in control of for secular purposes, usually military aggression.
Saddam's Baathism was a form of Islamic fascism just as Nazism was German-protestant and Italian fasism manipulated a catholic culture. Fascism as such has only been around about 150 years or so. True theocracy, which is what Al Queida wants globally, may be as old as government itself.
So, those who call the insurgents "islamofascist" are really incorrect just as calling someone like Dobson or Falwell a fascist is incorrect, they are really American theocrats just as Al Quieda consists of moslem theocrats.
Another way to look at it is to ask is Iran fascist? The answer is no, they are theocratic.
Of course, most of those who only watch Faux news will not understand the difference. Your point on blind loyality to one leader I too see as a cause for concern.

Good post. I can't remember this much intra-part corruption in my lifetime, and I'm old. These aren't isolated instances, they're the same people commiting the same crimes as far back as Watergate and Iran-Contra. The corruption you see in the state houses across the country simply reflects the corruption in the national leadership.

Posted by at July 22, 2005 11:16 AMNo Mike, people like you are the problem. If there were no people like you, the following would not have happen:
1. 9/11
2. Massive budget deficits
3. $1 trillion Iraq Scam
4. Global U.S. credibility losse
5. No real plan for alternate energy sources
6. 5 years of incompetent administration blunders
7. Elimination of government checks and balances and congressional oversight. The administration oversees congress.
8. Crooks looting the U.S. treasury
Sadly, the list is too long to complete here.
As you listen and watch people that condition your mind to act against your interest, this degradation continues to happen.
