Seminal event indeed (busting of PATCO). I've hypothesized (Hypothesize Me) that if the pilots' union, and flight attendants' union, and the airline mechanics' union had supported PATCO and shut down the airline industry, along with support from the UAW, then Reagan would have lost and the labor movement would not have gone into its tailspin. But, they did not and we have what we have today.

No matter, it will be interesting ot watch Stern, the CA worker groups like DeMoro and the CNA, UFW...
But then I left the Dems... and knew late 2002 - early 2003 that I would. I see a great deal of flux and realignment. The Democrats have nothing to offer the old coaltions. It can only be good, change is ultimately good, esp if pulling away from a carcass.
I will also pay attention and see what sanctions Pelosi manages against the 15 or the 9 however one breaks the CAFTA voters down. My guess, she does absolutely squat.
