Comments: California Rejects Diebold Voting Equipment

That's great news. It's not like these bastards couldn't have anticipated the public's skepticism of such technology.

I get a receipt at my cash machine or the check-out counter ---and I demand to get one when I cast my vote. Humor me.

Oh, thank God! That's the best news I have heard in a while. What a blow to those "behind the curtains".

It's about time. Seems every other country that has an election doesn't have a problem with people still putting an "X" beside their choice. We do that here in Canada. I've worked the elections here and we count the ballots manually with lots of security checks and balances.

Diebold deserves to be put out of business after their assistance with helping Bush steal the election.

"Seems every other country that has an election doesn't have a problem with people still putting an "X" beside their choice."

Exactly, and neither do we. There has never been a problem with the way we conducted our elections until Florida and that was because of fraud and Jeb Bush&Co. In Missouri we use the punch card method without any problems. When there has been a dispute over our elections, it never has been because we use the punch card here in Mo. The hijackers have just been hijacked. Thanks California.

About fucking time someone in government did something for the American people instead of to them.

Posted by marblex at July 30, 2005 07:47 AM

Good for them. It also means Diebold needs to pony up a bit more cash before they can buy off the California politicians.

And that idiot schwarzendumkopf was the one that appointed the republican McPherson. LOL.

And to think I castigated the Dems for approving McPherson. Well, it ain't over yet, so I'll still say they shoulda said no.

Thanks California!

Machines count punch cards, too.

I'm for technology and productivity. If there's a way we can do it faster and more accurately, I'm for it. I don't like people trying to interpret hanging chads or ballots from dead people.

Ahhh, oui! We must have zee elek-tron-eeq count-eeng. Uh-zerwise, ow do we cheat?

Posted by muckfrog at July 30, 2005 10:39 AM

due to repeated touch screen freezes and paper jams when the units tried to print paper trails

Jesus Christ! What's so fucking hard about this? I could take an ATM off the street, turn it into a voting machine and it will let you take cash out at the same time!

I'm rich!

Posted by Centrist at July 30, 2005 12:04 PM

The stakes are high when it comes to ATM machines. Banks don't like to lose money. Who cares about a few lost votes though? We need to put the banking industry in charge of voting machines.
