Comments: Katrina: A Whale Of A Hurricane

Great post, but I must say I simply cannot believe the citizens of the Red Southern states will ever require their Republican officials to do anything, ever, about the global warming crisis.

I don't think there was a senator in the confederacy that supported McCain and Leiberman's recent amendment.

And the southern House leadership? Don't make me laugh. The climate is doomed, thanks to Red Staters.

here is the interview with the mayor of New orleans that was on WWL radio. All you have to do is download it. But let me warn you it is uncensored.

Over the last couple of days, I have read some of the post powerful posts on TLC, and Pessimist has added his name to that list.

You do know, of course, that Bill Clinton is responsible for Hurricane Katrina (clandestine Democratic operatives ordered the strike), and that Bush and his war council are already planning retaliatory strikes against the Gulf of Mexico. No lousy body of water is gonna push around the mightiest nation that's ever been. No sir.

Wait til we find out that Halliburton's already been given the no-bid contract to rebuild New Orleans and the Louisiana oil industry. Jack Abramoff will probably be hired as district supervisor.

You KNOW these subhuman lizards (an insult to reptiles, really) are sitting there calculating how to get the maximum political gain from all of this suffering. The nightmare of these people running our government almost exceeds the nightmare that those stuck in New Orleans (and now Houston) struggle with. And just as former New Orleans citizens are going to be suffering with this for a long time, we are stuck with these jerks for what seems like a nearly endless future. Lucky us. Lucky humanity.

You are right on about the Southern thing. What poetic justice that those taking the brunt of all of this weather live in the heart of mindless-Bush-support country. It's too bad that those taking the worst of the worst are, as ever, the poorest of the poor who have lived too close to the edge for too many years to ever believe a word of Bushit in the first place.

Trent Lott, my heart bleeds that you lost your vacation house, you poor man. Maybe next time we can arrange for your other houses to get wiped out, too. A little suffering might open your hardened heart, which is nearly rusting away from lack of use.

Bush and Cheney and Sleeza should be sentenced to live in the Houston astrodome for twice the length of their summer vacations. The asshole-in-chief walks thru whatever nice part of New Orleans remains, talking to people who, up til a week ago, were wealthy tourists, for 30 minutes, and feels like he's got a handle on all the human suffering. Just go to the Salvation Army. They'll take care of you. I gave them two pairs of old cowboy boots just last week. Jerk.

Hey - since they are sending them all to Houston - why don't they sentence Ken Lay to have 55 really really poor and sick New Orleans people live in his mansion with he and his wife, for the next 5 years - community service in lieu of jail time. He'd be confined to home as part of his parole. And he has to personally cook dinner for all of them at least 5 nights a week. With food he buys.

Can Dubya put anyone up at his Crawford digs? Any lobster ravioli left over from the feed he put on for the press?

Here is a wicked evil plan - tell Dubya that Al Quaida is studying all the environmental-disasters-waiting-to-happen and helping them along is their newest strategy. Maybe then we will get resources to where they are needed.
