Karma- gets you every time, Mr. Cheney.

Posted by Dave at September 8, 2005 03:06 PMI believe down South,
"Go fuck yourself" is slang for "take that pretend act of sympathy and concern, and stick it up your arrogant, elitist ass".
When Bush was mingling with the Hurricane victims earlier, do you think they bused in local GOP hacks to play the role of hurricane survivors, like did to provide audience members for those mock Town Hall meetings about Social Security?
Of course I'm being tongue and cheek here, but I'm thinking a lot of these evacuees as we call them, would be looking to physically wipe that smirk off his face as opposed to cry on his shoulder at a photo op.
Posted by Jason at September 8, 2005 03:20 PMCurrently, I live over the pond, but my home is New Orleans. I remember John Ehret HS. Julius Rosenwald Elementary, Algiers, shrimp po' boys at Rainey's, and playing Babe Ruth Baseball at Kings Grant. This is personal to me.
I see the blogs condemning the president for lack of... well everything. I see someone telling Cheney to fcuk himself, and then Cheney makes a joke of it. To them and the trolls out there, this is a joke. They attribute black folks remaining there due to it being the end of the month. 84% of the black folk in New Orleans are at or below the poverty line. All they had is history. Their ancestors are buried there. Their mothers and fathers are buried there. My grandfather is buried there. I didn't have the heart or courage to mention to my mother that he could be one of the corpses floating through the streets. Its easy for you to sit back and judge, but if you aren't from the Big E, well, you just don' kno' we are bout it bout it and will be back.
GW wants 51 Billion to fix the citizens. A payoff to show he has the pulse of my dead city in his hands. Compared to 354 million or so requested to fix the levees. Who else reading this blog has ties to New Orleans? Who else had uncles using their boats to rescue folks on rooftops? Who else reading this blog had a cousin give birth and had to remain in the hospital lobby because she had no where to go.
I am ashamed of this president and this government, and the trolls who continue to denigrate this post. GW doesn't know suffering. His mother doesn't know the pride of the 'underprivileged.' GW knows Trent Lott and the devestation of his home. Well, I know personally, the streets I played on are gone. Buried under 10 feet of water.
Fcuk you. Fcuk all of you who trivialize this. I left New Orleans a while ago, but it is my home. It is where I'm from. It is my root to this world. Mardi Gras on St. Charles... Gone.
3 for 1 happy hour at Club Razou's... Gone. But you continue to make excuses for this fcuker in posing as the POTUS. You continue to think he is the greatest thing since God. He was negligent about 9/11 info. He was negligent about Katrina info. We all know what he thinks of science. The same science predicting the increased severity of hurricanes and the need to build up the levee system of New Orleans. But I guess when more than half of the deaths are po' black folk, then the negligence is justified.
Yes, I lay blame at him, due to his claiming he would keep us all safer. Well, tell me, are the potential thousands of deaths justified for a lie on our soil? In my hometown?
Where are the trolls now? No, I'm not spouting off hatred. This is my home, my soul, gone. And all this man can do is support a fcukin horse attny as the head of FEMA. Yeah, he's doin a buck up job. Any more fireman, policemen, and other public servants pushing pamphlets with the FEMA web site and phone number?
All of you Bush lovers are a joke. Now you see the POTUS' true colors: lily white and clothed in robes. I hope you sleep well at night knowing our Nation is in good hands, calling tax paying black people refugees? No, I'm not whining. I telling the truth, something not very popular right now over there.
Kanye West said it best... "George Bush don't like black people."
Posted by anthony at September 8, 2005 03:23 PMAnthony,,
I've been to N'awlins several times and your post makes me very sad. To think of all the things that are so wonderful about that city-Cafe du Monde, the French Market, the wonderful restaurants etc.
Hopefully, it will all come back soon. At least the French Quarter was saved.
Posted by Ga6thDem at September 8, 2005 03:39 PMlove it! fuckity fuck fuck fuck you, you fucking fucker!

[Editor: ignore=off]Have you seen the photo at billmon.org?
Apparently the SStiff SShirts eSScorting the VP gave the offending welcoming party member some treatment Cheney himself might want to take particular note of. (Hey, Scooter and Karl, you too!)
The wind seems to be SShifting a SSlight bit Mr VP.
Posted by credjam at September 8, 2005 06:06 PMIt's about time someone had the guts to tell him to "go fuck yourself." Hey Cheney, this is but a taste of what's to come from Americans.
Posted by Judith at September 8, 2005 06:08 PMFinally 2 perfectly satisfying moments in this time of heart wrenching tragedy. Cheers to the red states, Cheers to the south!
Posted by Marylander at September 8, 2005 06:24 PManthony, I grew up in Metarie, I lived through Betsy, and I mourn with you. The greedy bush and his cronies are expecting to turn it into Disneyland New Orleans, you can bet on it. The people made the city what it was, and now they're scattered to the 4 winds. It can never be the same. Oh, they'll try, but since they don't understand the heart, they'll never be able to resurrect the body. It'll be like something out of Pet Semetary, somehow just not the same as before. It breaks my heart.
Posted by iamcoyote at September 8, 2005 06:35 PM"Go fuck yourself Dick" would've been even better, but well said sir, whoever you are.
Posted by ran at September 8, 2005 07:42 PMWas he told twice to go fuck himself or was he told to go fuck himself twice? Either way it's a great idea.
Cheney's recent pig heart transplant, by Dr. Bill Frist, must have worked out well because he looked less dead than he usually does.
Posted by Tibor at September 8, 2005 08:18 PMHow fucking nice of Cheney to drag himself away from house buying to visit those who have no home.
Posted by Judith at September 8, 2005 08:24 PMI live in Mississippi and work at one of the large state universities a few hours north of the coast. (Hint: I don't work at a university that has Colonel Reb as a mascot.) Our town was hit by the storm, but it was weakened by then, and most of us didn't get major damage. But our town is full of refugees, many of our students have lost homes or friends or family members, and everyone is shellshocked. I have visited New Orleans many, many times, and every
time I turn on the news I see some horrible scene on a street that I've walked on many times. Anthony, I so understand how you feel.
I went over to billmon to see the pic. Was he simply exercising his first amendment rights? Oh yeah, he was probably a threat -- to the party line.
Makes me sick.
Anthony, there is no way to say how I understand. Living on the Gulf coast, I know the way that we all are. But Anthony, if it gives you any comfort at all, we are doing everything we can to help. I know it's late and that many do not want to go back to NOLA. I can only vouch for Houston, but we welcome everyone.
And perhaps it will all work out. I feel a strange sense of hope. Maybe I'm all fuzzy, but I have hope.
