Other than Ron Paul, I would imagine this is the "People with sheets and a hood"

Posted by headxray at September 8, 2005 03:41 PMI'S ALL SO VERY FRIGHTENING!
Do you think Fitzgerald will indict before Roberts is made Chief Justice.
If not and there is ever an impeachment of w, I think he would be the one to preside over it? Am I correct on this? (Rhenquist over Clinton)
Can someone let me know?
I REALLY AM FRIGHTENED
Steve,
I can understand drawing attention to the Republicans that voted against the $51B relief bill. But is this the same bill which the Dems didn't get a chance to amend or to even see a copy of??? If so, then why would the Dems vote for it??? Wouldn't this have been a great opportunity to highlight how the one-party-government is run these days??? Make no mistake, I am not defending those Republicans because I am sure their reasons for the "No" vote is much different than ours, but I still don't understand why we bitch about not getting any imput or discussion and then voting "Yea".
Posted by Howd at September 8, 2005 04:07 PMMy understanding was that they were suddenly worried about fiscal responsibility. Where has that concern been all these years? Are they ready to now raise some taxes so we can take care of these hurricane survivors?
Posted by CG at September 8, 2005 04:15 PMKudlow has a good column up on this topic. He was talking about a $200B aid package.
Heck, pretty soon they'll be talking about real money.
I don't know about the folks who vetoed it or why. But I think cool heads need to prevail before we throw hoards of cash at the problem and hope it works out.

Well, on ABC news tonight, it was reported that both D's and R's in the house and senate are willing to cut things to make room for the hurricane aid. There are a bunch of options-cutting back on the War in Iraq, postponing the prescription drug plan and forgetting about the estate tax. Also maybe getting rid of the "bridge to nowhere."
Posted by Ga6thDem at September 8, 2005 04:57 PMOh silly Steve,
It's not like the culture of life actually entails, you know, helping people.
Posted by Fledermaus at September 8, 2005 07:15 PMa PRess Release from Lynn Westmoreland - GA claims "one of [his] major concerns with the government response to disasters in general is the tendency to throw money at problems with very little accountability on how that money is being spent."
for Garrett (NJ), he has on his page "We in Congress have already begun the process by passing an emergency relief package to bring needed money and resources to the victims of this disaster. I join with the President in calling for all citizens to help out, in whatever way they can, and encourage everyone to conserve our energy resources during this difficult time,” Garrett said."
Virginia Foxx - (NC) was only concerned about urging "SENATE TO CONFIRM ROBERTS AS CHIEF JUSTICE"
a new editon of "meet the F##kers."
Posted by espo111 at September 8, 2005 07:27 PMRon Paul is an anti-war libertarian Republican, and has been ostracized by the GOP leadership for daring to speak out (and vote against) the current course of the country.
That said, the question everybody ought to be asking -- Democrats especially -- is, simply, "Do you trust this gang of Mafiosi to spend $56 billion wisely?"
'Cause if you do, I have a bridge to Sauvie Island I'd like to sell you. Real cheap.
I mean, are you aware that Halliburton has already won a no-bid contract to rebuild the NOLA harbor?
