Meanwhile, keep planning for this march

Anyone else going? I'll be there with the Iowa Peace Network and the Iowa chapter of the Methodist Fedration for Social Action.

I need a good sign though . . I may need to steal off the Freewayblogger.

If you don't read boingboing - you should. They have had by far some of the best coverage of the Drowning of New Orleans I've seen anywhere.

Anyone who has followed the Bush terms, or even the Bush years as Texas gov, see the pattern repeat over and over. A guy who wants to be "somebody" but does not expect to have to work to get it. He wants to be the head cheerleader but doesn't want to learn the routines. Want's to be a fighter pilot but doesn't want to go to war. Want's to be the CEO but doesn't know the business. Wants to be The Man, but doesn't want to put any effort into it. In short, he want's everything handed to him. And above all, he wants to be right all the time, and anybody that gets in the way of that is gone. We, as a citizenry, have been feed huge lies about George W. Bush from the moment the GOP hierarchy decided he would be their figurehead. Uniter not a Divider, Compassionate Conservative, Texan, and so on. He is none of that. Really, he's not anything at all except a rich kid who's dad happened to be US president. Except he is now in charge of everything. Thus we find ourselves in the state we are in.

Steve Clemons has more on the "Walk for Freedom". It turns out that government bureaucrats from several different agencies were pressured to join the walk. As Steve says, that is what the Soviets did to create crowds for their marches. (I did note that NPR did say that lots of Dept of Labor and Commerce workers were part of the walk when listening to that segment last night.)

Bush I's VP Dan Quail was just the PNAC's test dummy. W is the real thing now for the GOPers. (:>

THis is somewhat off topic, but in the SF Bay Guardian's coverage of this year's Project Censored stories they noted their concern with one of the stories selected, which was about lack of coverage of the government's invasion of our privacy. The Project Censored crew took as one course for their piece here a story that appeared on Capitol Hill Blue. Having noted the tendency of CHB to simply make things up from thin air I immediately sent a supportive email to the SFBG reporter who put in the disapproving note on that particular story.

But there is this: what is the story with CHB, who are they, and what are their motives? Does anyone know? Just curious.

Rumsfeld, according to the Newsweek article, opposed sending troops into New Orleans? I wonder if that had anything to do with disruption of planned deployments to Iraq.

By the way, this is consistent with the Washington Post's reporting last week that DOD lawyers resisted sending the troops in (when DOJ lawyers wanted to have it happen.)

Calwonderer, I thought they were people who work or have worked in some capacity on Capitol Hill.

Donald, Bush is actually Dan Quall in disguise, well, kinda.

Posted by Judith at September 12, 2005 09:36 AM

Actually Donald, Quall is smarter. We sure did come close to having that boy in the WH. Hey, what ever happened to Danny boy?

Yesterday, I read a letter to the editors at the Chicago Tribune:

Highland Park -- I wonder if the Bush haters are as quick with their checks to the disaster-relief effort as they are with their mouths to continually demonize the president.

Hm....let's see. moveon.org started hurricanhousing.org. On this site, I've read comments from both Judith and Dorita who are reaching out in every way possible to help people by more than just simply writing a check. Al Gore airlifted evacuees to TN. I've read about that pesky "Hollywood liberal elitie" giving millions and putting on concerts to benefit those who were effected.

I have yet to hear anything about conservative pundits donating a single dime.

And where are the Swift Boat Veterans? What are they doing to help relief efforts? You think they could have gotten their boats down to NO and helped pick up stranded folks.

And don't Repugs have vacation homes that they could offer as temporary housing?

I got the impression that as we, the people, get the National Enquirer and The Star at our grocery checkouts, Capitol Hill Blue is what sits at the checkouts of The Beltway. Some others have described it as Democrat Porn; which puts it at about the same level as Drudge and Rush Limbaugh.

Their FAQ is here.

Idiosynchronic, that's interesting. When I first discovered CHB about a year ago, they said they were people who worked or have worked in the Capitol. Guess that was a lie.
