Comments: Mr. Duct Tape Replaces "Brownie" Apparently Without Bush Knowing That Brownie Was Gone

Slightly OT, but I also experienced the LA mini-blackout this afternoon where I work in a building across the street from the DWP. During the 45 minutes before e'erthing went dark at 1:08 p.m. (+/-) the lights in our 16-story building perceptibly dimmed 3 or 4 times at ten minutes intervals (+/-). I'll be innerested to see what timeline the Grid Master offers for the "somebody snipped the wrong wire" scenario. Call me paranoid . . . (:>

Mike Brown has resigned as head of FEMA.

Actually, he started preparing his resignation letter before Katrina made landfall, but it took a week for him to figure out how to deliver it.

Good riddance.

It's nice that the president looked like such a dip over the resignation, too.

George W. Bush - so out of touch he doesn't even know when his most important domestic director has bailed on him.
I wonder if he knows Powell is not Sec of State? Does he know that Katrina is not a topless dancer he met in New Orleans a few decades ago? Does he know that Cheney came back from vacation? Does he know that he is the George Bush that is the president, not his Dad? Inquiring minds want to know: are we really safer with Bush lite?

If Shrub had been president during Pearl Harbor, we would have retaliated by bombing Mexico!

Let's just be sure to check those references this time.

Now Brownie's doing a great job! It's the first sensible thing that he has done since being hired by FEMA.

Half of our casualties in Iraq have been due to the incompentence of this Administration. Remember the body armor needed for vehicles that kept exploding? Now, it is the incompentence once again of Bush's people to have managed the Katrina aftermath. Why can't "We the People" demand this pResident and vice-pResident be impeached before more people die?

How nice that the beltway mob of "reporters", now that they smell blood, are willing to share some of their little anecdotes about Bush's temper and generally nasty nature. It must be a heady feeling to share all that insider knowledge over cocktails and canapes. It's too bad they never considered letting the voters know. You know, the guys who are supposedly hiring these creeps to serve THEIR interests.

I can't remember any time, at least in the last five decades that journalism could have sunk so low. It kind of makes you think Capitol Hill Blue may have deserved a little more respect. At least they were reporting SOME things we now know were the truth.

Speaking of reporters, has anyone found out the names of the 50 reporters or so at the Bush BBQ on August 25th?

Bush lied when asked about Brown's Resignation

President George W. Bush lied outright to reporters in Mississippi Monday when he claimed he did not know embattled Federal Emergency Management Agency director Mike Brown resigned.
In fact, Bush – who over the weekend told Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to “get rid of Brown any way you have to” – took a call from Chertoff while en route to the Gulf Coast aboard Air Force One. Chertoff told Bush he had Brown’s resignation in hand but the President ordered the Homeland Security secretary to delay announcement of Brown’s resignation until after the New Orleans photo op because he didn’t want his tour upstaged
