Comments: Bush's Day At The UN - Greenhouse Gasses Edition

I guess he learned a valuable lesson about dealing with potential flooding early...

I thought the note about the bathroom was a joke... It is real??? Who was the reporter who got the picture.

Posted by JWC at September 14, 2005 03:37 PM

Whoever he is, Guantanimo doesn't have a deep enough hole.

Posted by GWB at September 14, 2005 03:49 PM

What the hell is an SBD?

Stinky Butt D*******?
Stuffed Bean D________?

Forgive me, I don't get out much.

Posted by idiosynchronic at September 14, 2005 03:53 PM

Here's the next kick in the teeth. Insurance companies are refusing claims because hurricans, while falling under the catagory of "natural disasters", does not include the flooding of said hurrican. A separate policy to cover floods had to have been put into the policies as a rider. How do these people sleep at night?

Silent but deadly....

Posted by Steve Soto at September 14, 2005 03:59 PM

Now we know how he got those grades in college.

Posted by jillian at September 14, 2005 04:02 PM

Which was it, do you think: did he need to consult with Dick or did he need to fire Brown?

Posted by shecky green at September 14, 2005 04:10 PM

Heh, a side of Mr. Soto I hadn't witnessed before...I like it ;~P

Posted by emal at September 14, 2005 04:26 PM

What the hell is that thing on Bolton's upper lip? My God, it looks like the "Mustache that ate Manhattan"! He could squirrel away an entire 4 course meal in that thing for when he has to stay in one of those "ineffective" UN meetings longer than he wishes.

Posted by Trieatalot at September 14, 2005 05:06 PM

This is probably the only time Bush had to raise his hand to say anything since becoming "da Preznit." He looks like he's raising his hand with the intention of asking the teacher a smartass question which will get him detention.

Look at that body language. Look slike all the dumb hingover frat boys on history class.

Posted by PwapVt at September 14, 2005 05:52 PM

funny pictures....looks like Bush returned to the first Kerry debate "I hate you, I wanna go somewhere else where I can goof off" mentality (sic)

Looks like Condi might be picking her nose, or pulling nose hairs.

Posted by muckdog at September 14, 2005 06:00 PM

I sure hope they're gonna save that note for a prominent spot in the G Dub Presidential Library.

Posted by muckcat at September 14, 2005 06:21 PM

The UN, billions of your tax dollars at work:

Darfur.

Child rape.

The Asian tsunami.

Oli-for-food.

Please fell free to add your own...examples....

Its the same look Bush had when he was forced to pretend to listen to Michael Brown yak about Hurricane Katrina, after his vacation was shortened. Supreme Boredom.

Posted by LiberalBrawler at September 14, 2005 07:34 PM

Oh Baggey, I am sure you don't need our help in examples.

I still say George looks like Howdy Doody.

Posted by Judith at September 14, 2005 07:35 PM

Now, if in fact Bush is raising his hand to acknowledge his faux pas, that must mean the UN--probably due to some horrible Gallic influence--refuses to honor the "he who smelt it dealt it" rule, which has been hallowed by tradition in most civilized countries.

I believe Condi looks as she does because Bolton has informed her that the "terrible smell" is coming from her upper lip--it's a classic high school rejoinder. Who said Bolton would be no good at this diplomacy stuff?

Great gag, Steve.

I caught a bit of Bush's speech on TV this morning and blogged it later. He spoke about eliminating tariff barriers and kept pausing and looking around as if the delegates would soon burst into applause. Dunno why he thought that. NAFTA's been a bust, PR-wise.

Posted by Rich at September 14, 2005 08:00 PM

Caption first pic.

"Damn, being pResident really is hard work. Cheney told me it would be a piece of cake."

Posted by Judith at September 14, 2005 08:06 PM

Did anyone else notice the "cociane twitch" during the pauses in Bush's UN speech today? At my office someone else brought it up and darn if I don't believe it's true.

Posted by redeye at September 14, 2005 08:09 PM

Hate to go off topic but;

Just watched "Super Size Me".

If you haven't seen it you should.

Posted by muckcat at September 14, 2005 08:16 PM

Rick Wilking of Reuters took the photo of the note.

Posted by Siberian at September 14, 2005 09:28 PM

How incredibly rude. Wasn't he ever taught how to put on a feigned look of rapt attention while tuning out entirely? No wonder he was such a corporate failure. Didn't his Yalie brothers teach him anything? How did he ever make it through long lectures? (Oh, right, he skipped them. Never mind.)

His incredible fecklessness is bad enough, but the petulance and unjustified attitude of superiority really compounds it.

Posted by biggerbox at September 14, 2005 09:39 PM

I hate to admit it, but biggerbox has it right:

His incredible fecklessness is bad enough, but the petulance and unjustified attitude of superiority really compounds it.

This pisses me off to no end, too. I could forgive fucked-up policy, or fucked-up delivery of good policy. But this bastard can't even gin up a good photo-op. He's bored by the superficial crap that most Americans would give their left nut in trade to experience. Trust me: I was once a claims adjuster. Jesus, I'd trade Bush for ten minutes at the UN if he'd just have explained to the Pinto owner why his car wasn't worth $100.

So he has to go to the UN and listen to boring speeches. Boo fucking hoo. Suck it up, George, we're paying you for a full day's work.

Biggerbox, you have just put into words why my stomach turns everytime I hear or see this man.

Posted by Judith at September 15, 2005 04:15 AM

On target Biggerbox.

Posted by Daryl at September 15, 2005 05:29 AM

Wasting your time photoshopping pictures of Bush, Steve?

I don't know what's more pathetic...that you (or someone) squandered some free time to create that note or that so many of your sycophants appear to have fallen for it.

Posted by Al at September 15, 2005 07:27 AM

Al - the photo is for real from reuters

with this caption:

"U.S. President George W. Bush writes a note to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a Security Council meeting at the 2005 World Summit and 60th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York September 14, 2005. World leaders are exploring ways to revitalize the United Nations at a summit on Wednesday but their blueprint falls short of Secretary-General Kofi Annan's vision of freedom from want, persecution and war."

Posted by old crone at September 15, 2005 08:45 AM

heh... i thought that the picture was a joke, holy crap. It hurts my head to think that man and his cronies sent me to spend a year in Iraq.
I need some booze...

Posted by Jolly Sapper at September 15, 2005 10:55 AM

That note shouldn't have a question mark in it. "I think I may need a bathroom break?" Well, do you?

Although I will say he has marvelous penmanship.

Posted by DukeRevolution at September 15, 2005 12:34 PM
